NICMAR PG programs in Construction Management and Research Common Admission Test 2022


National Institute of Construction Management and Research has announced the common admission test - 2022, for the various PG programmes in the area of construction management and research. This article gives details of the application and admission process.

Introduction

The National Institute of Construction Management and Research (NICMAR) was constituted as a non-profit organization and was working as a trust since the year 1982. In the year 1984, it was registered under the Societies Registration Act. It is now offering various PG programs for the year 2022 in various focussed subjects in the area of construction management and research like Advanced Construction and Management, Project Engineering and Management, Real Estate and Urban Infrastructure Management, Infrastructure Finance, Development and Management, Management of Family Owned Construction Business, Quantity Surveying and Contract Management, Health, Safety and Environment Management, and Construction Logistics and Supply Chain Management. The Institute claims for providing the best campus facilities and a conducive environment for learning. It also inculcates the building of professionalism among the students through various special projects and collaboration with other organisations by holding regular seminars in the respective areas.

The institute is having its campuses in Pune, Hyderabad, Goa, and Delhi NCR and it conducts an entrance test for selecting the eligible candidates for admission to these courses. Now the institute has made an announcement for admission to these courses for the year 2022.

Details of courses and eligibility

The institute has 4 campuses across the country and the details of these courses as available in those campuses and eligibility for applying for them is as below -

  1. Advanced Construction and Management (ACM) - This is a 2 years PG program and is available in the Pune, Hyderabad, Goa, and Delhi NCR campuses. The students who have secured their engineering degree with at least 50% aggregate marks in any engineering discipline are eligible to apply for this course.
  2. Project Engineering and Management (PEM) - This is a 2 years PG program and is available in the Pune and Hyderabad campuses. The students who have secured their engineering degree with at least 50% aggregate marks in any engineering discipline are eligible to apply for this course.
  3. Real Estate and Urban Infrastructure Management (REUIM) - This is a 2 years PG program and is only available on the Pune campus. Students who have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in their Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Planning/ Commerce/ Finance/ Banking/ Management/ Economics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Agriculture are eligible to apply.
  4. Infrastructure Finance, Development and Management (IFDM) - This is a 2 years PG programme and is only available on the Pune campus. Students who have secured at least 50% aggregate marks in their Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Architecture/ Planning/ Commerce/ Finance/ Banking/ Management/ Economics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Agriculture or in Chartered Accountant/ Company Secretary/ ICWA are eligible to apply.
  5. Management of Family Owned Construction Business (MFOCB) - This is a 1 year PG program and candidates who are having their graduate degree with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks in any discipline are eligible to apply. The candidates will have to provide an undertaking in the prescribed format regarding the ownership of the construction business. This course is offered from the Pune campus only.
  6. Quantity Surveying and Contract Management (QSCM) - This is a 1 year PG program and candidates who are having a Bachelor's degree in Engineering in any discipline with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks are eligible to apply. This program is available on the Hyderabad campus only.
  7. Health, Safety and Environment Management (HSEM) - Candidates having at least 50% aggregate marks in their Bachelor's degree in Engineering in any discipline or Diploma in Engineering in any discipline with a minimum of four years of experience are eligible to apply for this course. This program is available on the Hyderabad campus only.
  8. Construction Logistics and Supply Chain Management (CLSCM) - This PG program is for a 1-year duration and is offered from the Hyderabad campus only. Candidates having at least 50% aggregate marks in their Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Information Technology/ Computer Science/ Architecture/ Planning/ Management/ Economics/ Mathematics/ Statistics/ Agriculture can apply for this course.

How to apply

The interested and eligible candidates have to visit the NICMAR website for applying for the NICMAR Common Admission Test (NCAT) and fill up the application form online. First, they have to register on the site by confirming the verification link received in their email ID. Once registered, the candidates can log in to the website using their username and password. After filling in all the details as asked in the application form they have to upload the scanned copies of the documents like - Passport Size Photograph, SSC Marksheet, HSC Marksheet, Technical Diploma Marksheet (If applicable), and Graduation Marksheet (of all the years).

The candidates can fill the application form offline also. They have to download the application form and then fill it and attach the copies of the necessary documents (Passport Size Photograph, SSC Marksheet, HSC Marksheet, Technical Diploma Marksheet (If applicable), and Graduation Marksheet (of all the years)). Candidates have to make a demand draft in favour of "NICMAR, Pune" to the address -

The candidates are advised to check and verify the details thoroughly in the application form before submitting it to avoid any mistakes or errors in it. Once the application is submitted then it would not be possible to do any changes to it.

Application fee and payment

The non-refundable application fee is Rs 2100 per course and is Rs 2620 for two courses and can be paid through any mode like Internet banking, Online payment through Credit card/Debit card, UPI, Wallet, or Demand Draft.

Entrance examination

Admissions to all these courses are coordinated from the Pune campus of the institute. After checking the applications, the eligible candidates will be issued admit card (which will be available on the website) for the entrance test. The total selection process will comprise the maximum mark of 300.

The Common Admission Test will be for 180 maximum marks and would consist of Quantitative and Analytical Ability: 72 marks, Data Interpretation: 36 marks, and Verbal and General Ability: 72 marks.

This would be followed by a personal Interview and rating of the application. The marks assigned to these activities are - Personal Interview: 50 marks and Rating of Application: 70 marks.

Live Presentation Session and Mock Test

For making the candidates at ease with the admission process a live presentation session and a mock test would be organised on 02.01.2022 to familiarise the candidates with the online process. All the candidates can attend that useful online session.

  • Date of advertisement for NICMAR-NCAT test - 26.09.2021.
  • Last date for submission of application - 10.12.2021.
  • Live presentation session and mock test - 02.01.2022.
  • Date of NICMAR-NCAT test - 08.01.2021 and 09.01.2022.
  • Shortlisted candidates to be called for a personal interview on - 13 to 18.01.2022.
  • Declaration of admissions results - 20.01.2022.
  • Last date for payment of tuition fees - 11.03.2022.
