NBEMS DNB, DrNB Final Theory Exams December 2021 session registrations open

National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS), which is under the aegis of the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India has announced the schedule of the Diplomate National Board (DNB) (Broad Specialty)/ Doctorate National Board (DrNB) (Super Specialty) Final Theory Exams of December 2021 session.

Eligibility criteria

For DNB Broad Specialty (Post MBBS and Post Diploma) candidates

You should have completed training as a DNB trainee at an NBEMS-accredited institute that after having registered with NBEMS as a DNB trainee and are completing the prescribed training as a DNB trainee by the cut-off date of 30th June 2022. Note that in the case of Post Diploma DNB trainees of the 2020 admission session, the cut-off date for completion of DNB training is 30th September 2022 because the course completion date for DNB-PDCET 2020 admission session is up to that date.

If you do not submit the certificate of completion of the training along with your application, then your application will be rejected. In case the training is ongoing, you are allowed to submit a Provisional Training Completion Certificate (PTCC). You must then submit the Final Training Completion Certificate (FTCC) as soon as the training is completed. For MD/MS Qualified candidates

You should have passed the final exam on or before 31st December 2021 leading to the award of a Post Graduate Degree (MD or MS), from a recognized Indian University and can apply for the DNB Final exam in the same broad specialty. Submission of proof of the same is mandatory by the prescribed cut-off date. Note that if you have an FCPS qualification that is awarded by the College of Physicians and Surgeons, Mumbai you are not eligible to apply.

Thesis requirement: DNB trainees must submit a thesis as per the norms of NBEMS. Only DNB trainees who have submitted their thesis by 31st October 2021 are eligible to apply for the DNB Final Theory Exam of the December 2020 session.

For DrNB Super Specialty Candidates

The eligibility criteria are the same as for DNB Broad Specialty (Post MBBS and Post Diploma) candidates.

For DM/MCh Qualified Candidates

You should have passed the final exam on or before 31st December 2021 leading to the award of a Doctoral Degree (DM/MCh), from a recognized Indian University and can apply for the DNB Final exam in the same Super Specialty. Submission of proof of the same is essential.

Registration and Exam fees

The following is the fee to be paid in online mode with a Debit card or a Credit card or by using the other options that are displayed on the screen while making the payment-
For DNB/DrNB Trainees: No registration fee. The exam fee is Rs. 6000/-.
For MD/MS or DM/MCh the registration fee is Rs.1000/-; the exam fee is Rs.6000/-.
Only Practical Exam Fee for DNB/DrNB trainee or MD/MS/DM/MCh candidate: Rs. 6000/-.

How to apply

Application for NBEMS DNB/DrNB Final Theory Exam - December 2021 should be submitted online at the National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences official website. While applying online, you need to indicate your first and second choice of the exam city in which you would prefer to take the exam (the list of 32 cities is provided in the information bulletin). Ensure that you read the information bulletin before applying and keep a copy of the printed application form for your reference.

The following documents are required to be scanned and uploaded wherever required during the online application process-
For DNB/DrNB Candidates:
  1. M.B.B.S. Degree Certificate

  2. DNB/DrNB Training completion certificate in the prescribed format.

  3. Registration letter issued by NBEMS.

  4. The Thesis acceptance letter issued by NBEMS/Proof of submission of the thesis for assessment, as applicable.

  5. NBEMS approval in cases of extension of training (in cases of Maternity leave/ Paternity Leave/ Medical Leave/ Excess leave)

ForMD/MS/DM/M.Ch Candidates:
  1. MBBS Degree Certificate

  2. MD/MS/DM/M.Ch Degree certificate/Provisional Pass Certificate (PPC)

  3. Documents supporting postgraduate qualification being recognized (refer to the information bulletin to know the required ones).

Important dates

Submission of online application: 23rd October 2021 up to 12th November 11.55 PM 2021.
Issue of Admit Card: 10th December 2021.

Dates of the March 2021 DNB/DrNB exams :
For DNB Final (Broad Specialty)-
Paper-I: 16th December 2021, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Paper-II: 17th December 2021, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Paper-III: 18th December 2021, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Paper-IV: 19th December 2021, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For DrNB Final (Super Specialty)-
Paper-I: 16th December 2021, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Paper-II: 17th December 2021, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Paper-III: 18th December 2021, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For DrNB Super Specialty Direct 6 Years Course – Part-I-
Paper-I: 16th December 2021, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Paper-II: 17th December 2021, 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.

For DNB/DrNB Final Practical Exams: The date, time and venue of practical examination shall be intimated to all candidates who have qualified theory examinations through their Online Exit Examination Portal (OEEP) account.



Documents required at the exam centre:
  1. Admit Card, with the photo pasted on it.

  2. Original valid ID proof (should not be an expired one)– either PAN Card or Driving License or Voter ID or Passport or Aadhar Card (with photo).

Once the result is declared, a provisional passing certificate will be issued within a few weeks.
