Joint Entrance Test (JET) 2021 for Admissions into Film and Television institutes

Film and Television institutes in India will provide various training courses in different sections of the Film and Television industry. These courses will provide a great opportunity for lakhs of people to get job opportunities in this field according to their talent. This article provides the various details of the Joint Entrance Test (JET) 2021 conducted by the Pune Film and Television Institute and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFIT).

Introduction

A notification was issued for Joint Entrance Test (JET) 2021 by the Pune Film and Television Institute and Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute (SRFTI), Kolkota. This common entrance test will be held to select students for PG Diploma and PG certificate courses in both Film and Television sections. SRFTI conducts this entrance test in three group formats A, B, and C. Candidates can select one course from each of these three groups A candidate can apply for a maximum of three courses through this entrance test. Selection will be based on the merit score obtained through this entrance test. The final selection will be based on interviews and medical tests. This entrance test will be conducted in 27 examination centers spread all over India.

Various courses offered by Film and Television Institutes

Group A Courses

Production for Film and Television, Animation in Cinema, Art Direction, and Art Production design, Screen Acting, Screen Writing (Film, TV, Web series), Electronic and Digital Media management. The first three courses above will have a course duration of 3 years, and the last two courses have two years duration. The first two courses and the last course above will be trained by SRFTI and the remaining are trained in the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII). AIU has recognized Art Direction, and Art Production design and Screen Acting courses are equivalent to Master's Degree Courses.

Group B Courses

Direction and Screenplay Writing, Cinematography, Editing, Sound Recording, and Design. The duration of each of the above courses is 3 years. These courses are available both in SRFTI and FTII.

Group C Courses

Electronic and Digital Media Management related Direction and Production, Cinematography, Editing, Sound, Writing PG Diploma courses have a course duration of two years. These courses will be available in SRFTI.

Direction, Electronic cinematography, video editing, sound recording, and Television Engineering PG Certificate courses will have a course duration of one year. These courses are available in FTII. These courses are recognized by AICTE.

Educational Qualifications

Candidates going for Art Direction and Production Design courses must possess a Degree in Applied Arts/ Architecture/Sculpture/Interior Design courses. For the remaining courses, candidates must possess any Degree from a recognized University.

JET 2021 Entrance Test details

The entrance test will have two papers. Each paper carries 50 marks and thus two papers carry 100 marks. The duration of each paper is 3 hours. The first paper has 2 parts. In the first part, 20 multiple choice questions will be asked from Art and Craft of Film and TV, Allied Arts, Literature, General Awareness, Environmental Awareness, GK (Art, culture, Media). Each question will carry one mark. In the second part, 15 multiple select questions consist of more than one answer. Each question carries two marks. Answers should be marked on the OMR sheet by the candidate. Questions in the second part asked from the selected course of the candidate. For marking wrong answers 1/4th mark will be deducted.

The second paper is related to the specialization of the course of the candidate. It is an Aptitude test related to the specialization of the course. This paper includes a long descriptive question and this question is compulsory for the candidate to answer. This question carries 20 marks. Six descriptive and short note questions will be asked in Sketch and photograph sections. Candidates have to answer 3 questions out of 6 questions. Each question carries 10 marks.

JET Entrance Test validity:- September 30th 2022.

Application Fee:- For one course Rs.2000 (Rs.600 Reserved candidates), for two courses Rs.3000 (Rs.900 for reserved candidates), for three courses Rs.4000 (Rs.1200 for reserved candidates).

Last date for online Application:- December 2nd, 2021.

Admit card downloading:- December 8th to 17th.

Group A Exam date:- December 18th.

Group B and Group C Exam date:- December 19th.
