National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) is set up by the Department of Biotechnology, Ministry of Science & Technology, Govt. of India in 2010. The institute is engaged in Agri-Food biotech research and innovations for improved household nutritional security. NABI acts as a nodal organization of the Agri-food sector in India for knowledge generation and translational science. Currently, NABi is calling applications from eligible Biotech / Biochem / Life Sciences students for Student Internship for two months as a part of Scientific Social Responsibility.

Current projects available for interns

During the internship the students will work on the following projects:
  1. Development of Glycoconjugates based site-directed fluorescent sensor for the detection of bacteria CRG (Project Coordinator-Dr. Nitin K Singhal)
  2. Development of microalgae-based feed supplement for enhanced bioavailability of essential micronutrients for monogastric animals (Project Coordinator -Dr. Gulshan Kumar)
  3. Elucidating the role of wheat ferroportin during cellular iron homeostasis. (Project Coordinator -Dr. Ajay K Pandey)
  4. Genomics-guided exploration of polyketide synthases for sustainable production of long-chain omega-3 fatty acid via metabolic engineering (Project Coordinator-Dr. Hena Dhar)
  5. Genomic approaches to reduce ß-ODABP levels in Lathyrus spp (Project Coordinator -Dr. Pramod K K)
  6. Mining non-host resistance (NHR) genes for engineering Alternaria Blight resistance in Indian Mustard (Brassica juncea) (Project Coordinator -Dr. Sivasubramanian)

Name of Positions: Student Intern

Number of Internships Available: Total number of student internships are six. These are purely temporary positions.

Duration of Internship: The student internship will be for two months from the date of commencement of training. The training period will not be extended beyond two months in any case.

Eligibility Criteria: The students who are desirous to join student internships should have an undergraduate degree in Engineering (B.E. or B.Tech.) or a postgraduate degree in Science. The candidates who are having a Science background including chemistry/botany/life sciences/biotechnology/biochemistry background will be given preference.

Stipend: Student interns will receive a consolidated monthly stipend of Rs. 5000/-.

How to Apply

  • The candidates who wish to apply for the student internship of NABI must visit the official website of National Agri-Food Biotechnology Institute (NABI) and download the application format available on the institute's website (www.nabi.res.in).
  • The candidates must fill the application form and carry it walk-in-interview.
  • Candidates must carry experience certificates, publications and original degree certificates and transcripts along with the application form.
  • The candidates must note that the application form must be completed in all respect and should be filled in the prescribed format. Incomplete application forms will be summarily rejected.
  • All the information must be filled accurately in the application form as after the submission of the application form no further request regarding any changes/ information in the application form will be considered.
  • Candidates who want to apply for more than one option need not fill multiple applications. They can give their preference in the same application.

Selection of Interns

Selection of the candidates for the internship will be done based on the interview. All interested candidates will have to appear for Walk-In-Interview on a scheduled date. Registration of the candidates will be done on the spot on the day of the walk-in-interview at NABI. The candidates must check their eligibility before coming for walk-in-interview as ineligible candidates will not be considered and interviewed.
Travel arrangements and other arrangements to attend the interviews will have to be made by the candidates as NABI will not offer any TA and DA for appearing in the interview.
