K.J.Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Tech. Mumbai 2021 admissions after CAP rounds

K J Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology (KJSIEIT), Mumbai has issued the admission notification for admissions for the academic session 2021-22 to the First Year, Direct Second Year, and Postgraduate engineering degree for possible vacancies against the Centralized Admission Process (CAP) and CAPMI seats (seats allotted for Minority candidates) after all the CAP rounds. Only Indian nationals can apply for the KJSIEIT courses.

About KJSIEIT Mumbai

Established in 20021, K.J. Somaiya Institute of Engineering and Information Technology is an unaided Govt.-approved autonomous college affiliated to the University of Mumbai. It is also approved by AICTE, New Delhi, and the Directorate of Technical Education (DTE). The college has gained a good reputation in engineering education that is offered in four streams. namely, Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Computer Engineering, and Information Technology. Students can avail themselves of need-based, merit-based, and other scholarships.

The courses that are taught by highly qualified faculty are well-supported by lab sessions, as well as skill-based and activity-based learning, encouraging the students to create innovative solutions to contemporary issues. Students develop communication skills, and leadership abilities, and imbibe good work ethics. Collaborative projects and internships are also part of the programs. The Training and Placement cell offers able guidance to graduating students to bag opportunities in reputed companies. Students can join various clubs, such as for hobbies, robotics, street plays, software programming, etc.



A brief look at the campus infrastructure: The 5-acre Wi-Fi-enabled campus has spacious academic blocks, with large classrooms equipped with SmartBoard learning tools, common rooms, labs, an auditorium, canteen, sports facilities, a gym, a library with digital e-access, etc. There are separate hostels with internet facilities and mess for boys and girls for outstation students, and a bus facility has been provided for both students and staff.

  4. Bachelor of Technology in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science: 60

  5. Master of Technology in Artificial Intelligence: 18

Eligibility requirements

The below-mentioned criteria for admission to the programs are for candidates from the State of Maharashtra. For All-India candidates, the eligibility criteria are as per the State Govt. norms.

B.Tech. First-Year Engineering: Passed the H.S.C. exam or its equivalent exam with Physics and Maths as compulsory subjects along with one of these- Chemistry or Biotechnology or Biology or a Technical Vocational subject or Computer Science or Information Technology or Informatics Practices or Agriculture or Engineering Graphics or Business Studies, with min. 45 % marks (min. 40% for reserved category candidates). Also required- you must have appeared in all the subjects in MHT-CET2021 and get a non-zero score in MHT-CET2021 conducted by the competent authority. Those who have passed a Diploma in Engineering and Technology are also eligible to apply.

B.Tech. Direct Second Year Engineering: You should have passed Diploma Course in Engineering and Technology with min. 45% marks (min. 40% marks or reserved category candidates) in the appropriate branch of Engineering and Technology from an AICTE-approved or Central or State Government approved Institution or its equivalent. Also acceptable is a B.Sc. Degree from a UGC-approved Association of Indian Universities recognized University with min. 45% marks (min. 40% for reserved category candidates) and passed H.S.C. or an equivalent exam with Maths as a subject.

M.Tech.: You should have passed a Bachelor Degree in Computer Engineering or Information Technology or Electrical Engineering or Electronics Engineering or Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering or Instrumentation Engineering or Power Electronics with min. 50% marks (min. 45% marks for reserved category candidates). It is also required to have a non-zero Positive GATE Score in Computer Science and Information Technology (CS), Electronics and Communication Engineering (EC), Electrical Engineering (EE), Instrumentation Engineering (IN) streams, or a full-time work experience of at least two years with Sponsorship Certificate from the employer.

The course fee for each program as shown below is taken from the official KJSIEIT 2021-22 admission brochure.

The "Other Fees" that are mentioned in the Tables above include charges for the college ID card, the Library card, sports and cultural activities, the university enrollment fee, etc.

Payment mode: You have to pay the fees through online payment via Net Banking or with a Debit Card or with a Credit Card or by demand draft or pay order drawn in favour of "K. J. SOMAIYA INSTITUTE OF ENGINEERING & I. T." payable at Mumbai.

Application procedure for pre-admission

You have to fill the online application form and upload the required documents at the KJSIEIT official website. The processing fee of Rs.1000/- should also be paid online. Note that to apply for the seats after CAP, you must initially register online, and upload the documents at the official website of the State Common Entrance Test Cell, Maharashtra State and get your application and documents verified by the designated E-Scrutiny Centre through the online mode.

Important notes-
Firstly, ensure that before you fill the pre-admission form that you have all the documents ready for uploading. Refer to the official brochure to know the list of documents required for admission to each of the courses, and which ones are required to be submitted in original to the college authority.

Secondly, if have passed the Class 12 exam from a Board other than the Maharashtra State Board, then you must produce the eligibility certificate from the University of Mumbai to which the college is affiliated before you take admission. Contact the college office for any clarifications on this.

The schedule for the online submission of the pre-admission form and the payment of the processing fee of Rs.1000/- is as follows-
For the First Year Engineering (B.Tech.) course: 16th November to 8th December 2021.
For the Direct Second Year Engineering (B.Tech.) course: 16th November to 8th December 2021.
For the Post Graduate Engineering (M.Tech.) course: 16th November to 10th December 2021.
