Kittur Rani Channamma Residential Sainik School, Karnataka invites applications from girls for admission to Class VI for the academic years 2022-23. Students have to appear for an All India entrance exam which will be subsequently followed by an interview, physical fitness test, and a medical exam by the school. Those who have appeared for the entrance exam for admission to Class VI cannot re-appear in the entrance exam again for the same class.

About the school

Kittur Rani Channamma Residential Sainik School is a higher secondary public school exclusively for girls. The CBSE-affiliated residential school is up to Class 12 with students of Class 11 and 12 offered the Science stream. NCC training is mandatory for all students and other major programs include Guides and sports activities, such as horse riding, swimming, etc. Training for NDA and coaching for competitive exams like JEE and NEET are also provided. Co-curricular activities include elocution, quizzes, dramatics, debates, etc. A unique feature of the school is its collaboration with the College of Education, Saginaw Valley State University, USA, and with Carrollton Public School, Michigan, USA through which student exchange programs are arranged.

The campus infrastructure includes accommodation in dormitories, a library with a separate digital library for e-learning, labs for science subjects, a computer lab, a medical inspection room, a cafeteria with a dining hall, and sports facilities for cycling, athletics, swimming, basketball, football, hockey, badminton, table tennis, horse riding, malkhamb, etc. Yoga sessions and Karate training are also provided.



School Fee and Scholarship

The school fee is approximately Rs.1,90,600/- per annum. This includes lodging and boarding, the school uniform, and other deposits. Expenses for other clothing items and kits will be extra. The school fee payment has to be made only with a Demand Draft and should be in favour of 'Principal, KRCRSSG Kittur', payable at Kittur (Candara Bank/SBI). Online payments can be made at the school's website as well.

Students of the State of Karnataka who are Domicile citizens of the State can apply for the Merit Scholarship under the State Govt. Scholarship Scheme, but are required to pursue their education in the school up to Class 12 (Science Stream). If they do not do so and leave the school earlier, then the entire scholarship will be recovered at the time of issuance of the school Transfer Certificate.

Eligibility requirements

Age criteria: For admission to the academic session of 2022-23, the student should be born between 1st June 2010 and 31st May 2012.

Educational Qualification: The student should have passed Class V from a recognized school.

Application procedure

The prospectus-cum-application form can be downloaded from the school's website or obtained from the school office on payment through a Demand Draft. The application fee is Rs.2000/- for General Category candidates and Rs.1,600/- for SC/ST candidates, which can be made online. All relevant certificates and documents, including proof of age (such as transfer certificate, birth certificate, etc), caste certificate (if applicable), etc should be attached to the completed application form. The completed application form should be filled up in English and should reach the school before the last date.



Selection process

Entrance test

The entrance exam is a written test that will be scheduled at four exam centres, namely at Kittur, Bengaluru, Vijayapur, and Kalaburgi. In the application form, the student can select the centre as per her choice. The student can appear for the test paper in Kannada or English medium.

The test is a total of 200 marks with three sections- (i) Language Proficiency Test (which is mandatory to pass) includes (a) English (25 marks) and (b) Kannada/Hindi (25 marks); (ii) General Mathematics (75 marks); (iii) Mental Ability Test (75 marks).

Hall tickets for the All India Entrance Exam will be issued by ordinary Post. The photo affixed on the application form must be identical to the one on the Hall Ticket. It should be a recent passport-size photo taken on or after 1st October 2021 and must be attested by the Principal/Headmaster of the school in which the girl is studying. In case the student is of a private school, the photo must be attested by a Gazetted Officer. Hall tickets will not be dispatched to those students whose applications are incomplete, and the student with a Hall ticket that does not have the photo and signature and seal of the Principal/Head Master of the school in which the Girl is studying will not be permitted to appear for the entrance exam.

Physical fitness test

The fitness test requires the candidate to run for 1km and make standing vertical and horizontal broad jumps to attain the minimum qualifying standards.

Other procedures

The medical exam will be scheduled by Government-appointed Civil doctors, and the interview will be conducted by a panel of selectors at Kittur only. The applicable physical standards are- 128cm height and 25kgs weight for age 10-11 years, and 130cm height and 28kgs weight for age 11-12 years.

The final merit list will be determined by the scores of the written test and the interview combined. Students who are ranked low on the merit list may be permitted to apply for vacant seats, if any, based on a Full Fee Payment Scheme (FFP scheme). However, this consideration will not be automatic and parents are required to make a written request for it.

Last date to obtain application form-cum-prospectus: 25th December 2021.
Last date to submit applications: 31st December 2021.
Late submissions: The application form-cum-prospectus can be obtained after the last date, that is, after 26th December 2021 also, up to 12th January 2022 with a payment of Rs.2000/- and an additional penalty of Rs.500/-.
Last date to submit applications with the application fee and the additional penalty: 15th January 2022.
Date of written test: 30th January 2022.
