Overview

National Institute of Fashion Technology popularly known as NIFT is a premier institute of our country in the field of Design, Management and Technology. With the main campus located in India's capital, the institute was later transformed into a statutory institute in 2006. If you are interested to get admission to either undergraduate or postgraduate courses in NIFT for the year 2022, here is your chance. If you are applying through the Foreign National/ SAARC/ NRI/ OCI Category OR NIFT Lateral Entry admission, the details are provided as well. Eligibility requirements for NIFT courses

  • Bachelor of Design(B.Des):- Candidates who have passed the plus 2 exams or have completed a 3-year Diploma course recognized by AICTE are eligible to apply for this program. The candidates will be provided training in Accessory Design, Fashion Design, Leather Design, Knitwear Design, Textile Design and Fashion Communication
  • Bachelor of Fashion Technology(B.F.Tech)- Candidates who have passed the plus 2 exam with subjects (Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics) OR have completed a 3-year Diploma course recognized by AICTE are eligible to apply for this program
  • Master of Fashion Technology(M.F.Tech)- Candidates who have passed B.F.Tech from NIFT OR BE/a href="https://www.indiastudychannel.com/courses/groups/3-btech">B.Tech degree in any Engineering subjects recognized by the university are eligible to apply for Master of Fashion Technology(M.F.Tech)
  • Master of Design(M.Des)- Candidates with a degree from a recognized university OR a 3-year Diploma course from NIT or NIFT are eligible to apply for this program
  • Master of Fashion Management(M.F.M)- This is the only program offered by NIFT in the management field. Candidates with an undergraduate degree in any discipline from a recognized university/institutes OR with a 3-year Diploma course from NIFT/ NID are eligible to apply for this program

Age limit

For B.Des & B.F.Tech programs, candidate's maximum age should be less than 24 years as of 1st August of the year of admission. But the upper age limit for candidates of Scheduled Caste/Scheduled Tribe/ Person with Disability (PWD) categories will be relaxed by a period of 5 years. For PG programs, there is no age limit.



Selection process

There will be an entrance exam conducted by NIFT in the 32 centers located all over India.
  • Bachelor of Design(B.Des):- Candidates need to take the Creative Ability Test (CAT 3- hour duration) and General Ability Test (GAT-2- hour duration). Those who are shortlisted from the above-mentioned exams have to undergo the situation test
  • Bachelor of Fashion technology(B.F.Tech):- Candidates have to take the General Ability Test (GAT-3 hour duration)
  • Master of Design(M.Des):- Candidates have to take the Creative Ability Test (CAT) and General Ability Test (GAT). And the shortlisted candidates of these exams are required to undergo Group Discussion and Personal Interview
  • Master of Management(M.F.M), Master of Fashion Technology(M.F.Tech): Candidates have to take the General Ability Test (GAT- 3 hour duration). And the shortlisted candidate has to attend for Group Discussion and Personal Interview

Where to register for NIFT admissions 2022

Interested candidates can register for the NIFT admission 2022 entrance examination through the NIFT official website and admission website mentioned below.

Application fees and mode of payment

There is a non-refundable application fee which the candidates need to pay through an online payment gateway.
  • General/OBC (Non-Creamy)/GEN-EWS Category: Rs 3000/-
  • SC/ ST/ PWD Category: Rs 1500/-

Candidates should make the payment only online through the NIFT admissions website given below. Also, you can keep a printout/photocopy of the Application Form for future reference along with payment proof.

Important dates

  • Last date for submitting application form:- 17 January 2022
  • Entrance exam date for UG-PG courses:- 6 February 2022
  • Tentative date of publishing entrance exam results:- March 2022
  • Tentative date of conducting situation test, group discussion, personal interview: April 2022




Admission for Foreign National/SAARC/NRI/OCI category

Candidates who are applying under the Foreign National/ SAARC/ NRI/ OCI Category need to apply online at NIFT official website given below. The last date for applying is 30 April 2022. Candidates have to send the SAT/ GMAT/ GRE test score directly to NIFT, H.O. Delhi before 30 April 2020. Also, there is an application fee of US$ 125 that needs to be paid through the online NIFT payment gateway. The selection of the candidates will be based on the SAT/GMAT/GRE scores.

NIFT Lateral Entry admission

NIFT lateral entry admission (NLEA) provides an opportunity for candidates who have completed their Diploma in relevant/related fields of Design & Technology to get direct admission to the third semester of UG programs conducted by NIFT. Candidates need to attend an All India Entrance Exam to get lateral admission in the 3rd semester of UG programs of NIFT. The selection will be based on the performance of candidates in the written test, studio test/technology aptitude test, and a personal interview.

Admission under PWD category

If you are applying under the PWD category and availing the services of scribe for the GAT exam, you are requested to submit a self-declaration form(available on the official website) duly signed by you and the scribe at the exam center and a copy should be sent via email to admissions@nift.ac.in.
