The Army Welfare Education Society (AWES) has released the schedule of the Combined Selection Screening Exam 2022. This entrance exam is required for all applicants of teaching jobs in an Army Public School (APS) in India. All the 136 schools follow the CBSE curriculum and the list of vacancies of each individual school will be known through their respective school office's notification board and/or official website. The exam fee is Rs. 385/-, which is not refundable.

The scorecard that is issued on the declaration of the entrance exam result will make applicants eligible for the recruitment procedures of the APS where they are seeking a teaching position, such as an interview, a proficiency test for a specific subject, etc. However, such a post should be taken up within three years of the issuance of the scorecard and one must continue at that post for a minimum of one year (unless the teaching post is of shorter duration). Appointments on a regular basis are liable for transfer to another APS school.
Who is eligible to appear for the APS Teachers Entrance Exam
A candidate should ensure that he/she is eligible for the specific teaching post, namely Postgraduate Teacher (PGT) or Trained Graduate Teacher (TGT), or Primary Teacher (PRT), prior to registration for the entrance exam. Candidates who are already holding a scorecard and who wish to improve their score, and those who wish to apply for an upgraded post, such as for a PGT post due to having higher qualifications, can also appear for the exam.
Age criterion: A candidate with no teaching experience or with less than five years of teaching experience should be below 40 years of age as of 1st April 2021 (for APS schools in Delhi, it is as per the norms of the Delhi School Education Act & Rules). Those with over five years of teaching experience in the last 10 years should be below 57 years.
Teacher Eligibility Test criterion: It is not required to have passed the Central Teacher Eligibility Test (CTET)/Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for the exam, but since this is a mandatory requirement for appointment as a TGT and PRT as per norms of the Central Govt./State Govt. where the APS school is located, the appointment will be on an Adhoc basis until the requisite qualification is acquired.
Educational Qualification criteria for PGT Teachers: In the qualifying exam and in the B.Ed. exam, you must have at least 50% marks in aggregate. Other than for Physical Education, a professional B.Ed. is mandatory for teaching the subject. The subject wise qualifications are-
Educational Criteria for TGT Teachers: In the qualifying exam and in the B.Ed. exam, you must have at least 50% marks in aggregate. However, in case of a Postgraduate Degree with less than 50% marks in the Graduate exam but an aggregate score of at least 50% marks in the Postgraduate exam and also in the subject applied for, then it is permitted to apply for a TGT teaching post. The subject wise qualifications are-
Educational Qualification for PRT Teachers: A Graduate with B.Ed./four-year integrated course of B.Ed. or a 2-year Diploma of a recognized D.El.Ed. course with at least 50% marks in aggregate in both.AWES 2022 Entrance Exam Question Paper Format
The online screening test has one common paper, namely Paper A, for PGT and TGT vacancies, and the second paper, namely Paper B, is different for PGT and TGT vacancies. One-fourth marks will be deducted for an incorrect answer, with a minimum of 50% required in each part to qualify for the teaching post. The final score will be normalized to 100. Candidates can answer the question in any order.
Paper A
This paper is for 1 ½ hours, with 80 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in three sections. The three sections are-
Section A: Basic GK – Questions include ones for gauging (i) general awareness based on Social Science & General Science NCERT textbooks of Std. VI to X, (ii) Mental Ability, and (iii) Comprehension.
Section B: Current Affairs – Questions are to assess your knowledge of international current affairs, and of International events which impact India.
Section C: Professional Knowledge – Questions are related to B.Ed./Teaching practices, CBSE rules and regulations (such as on NEP), and Inclusive Education and Information Technology.Paper B for PGT
This paper is for two hours, with 120 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in three sections. The three sections are-
Section A: The questions are of a basic level related to the specific subject, based on the syllabus of Std. XI to XII.
Section B: The questions are of a moderate level related to the specific subject, based on the syllabus of Std. XI to XII.
Section C The questions are of a higher level related to the specific subject, based on the syllabus of Postgraduation. Paper B for TGT
This paper is for two hours, with 120 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in four sections. The four sections are-
Section A: The questions are of a basic level related to the specific subject, based on the syllabus of Std. VI to X.
Section B: The questions are of a moderate level related to the specific subject, based on the syllabus of Std. VI to X.
Section C: The questions are of a higher level related to the specific subject, based on the syllabus of Std. XI to XII.
Section D: The questions are of a higher level related to the specific subject, based on the syllabus of graduation. For PRT Teachers

Registration has to be done online from 7th January 2022 at the official entrance test registration portal
Ensure that you read all the instructions and guidelines carefully before starting the registration procedure. On completing the submission, note down the application number for future communications related to your application form.
You can select the nearest center from the list of 67 centers. In case of restrictions imposed by local authorities due to the Covid situation in a particular area, candidates will be allowed to appear for the exam at through an AI proctored test.
