About the Post Graduate Student Status Programme

IIIT Hyderabad or the International Institute of Information Technology, Hyderabad is a private university in Telangana, India that offers a number of undergraduate and postgraduate programs. Along with the regular programmes, the institute offers a few part-time postgraduate programs as well. The Post Graduate Student Status Programme (PGSSP) is one such part-time program, especially meant for working professionals from Hyderabad.

Admissions to the program are open twice a year, once during the spring semester and again during the monsoon semester. The courses for the spring semester begin from the first week of January and admissions for the same are done a month prior by the second week of December. For the monsoon session, the classes begin in the month of July and the admissions are done by June.

The main idea of the programme offered by IIIT Hyderabad is to provide opportunities to working professionals in acquiring new knowledge about subjects not previously explored by them, but could be beneficial for their career progression. Depending upon their need, the students have the flexibility to choose a maximum of two courses every semester. They can choose any course that the institute offers, be it a UG or PG course. The duration of the programme depends upon the number of courses chosen by the student. If need be, the students can also join a full-time programme and the courses already undertaken by them will count towards a formal degree. However, to be counted towards a formal degree, the courses chosen should be from the PG or UG senior level.

The classes are held twice or thrice a week within weekdays from Monday to Saturday. Attendance is compulsory for all the classes conducted. The detailed schedule for the classes is made available at the website of IIIT Hyderabad and candidates can refer to the same before registration. They may even contact the concerned course instructor and find about the requirements and expectations of the chosen course. All classes are held in person.
