Unique features of Google online digital classroom
This article gives an overview of Google Classroom as an online digital classroom. Google classroom consists of various features to help students to access various course materials, assignments, quizzes shared by the teacher, and many more. The current COVID Pandemic has forced mankind to learn online by different online learning methods. There are various online learning options available to students. One such option is Google Classroom. It is a platform where teachers can create a digital classroom online and can share this classroom with their students. The enrolled students can join that Google classroom and can access the information shared by the teacher. This facility is totally free but one has to use a Google account to create or join this Google classroom.Features of Google classroom:
The Google classroom comes with various features as listed below-Dashboard of classroom
Google classroom dashboard looks like the image shown below. It consists of Google meet, Class code, stream, classwork, people, and grade tabs. The Google meet code allows teachers and students to use the Google Meet facility to get connected via an audio-visual facility to discuss or for teaching-learning class sessions. The class code is an alphanumeric code that can be shared with the students to invite (by email, link on WhatsApp) them to a given subject's class. 
Stream
When a teacher wants to announce anything, he or she has to post a message in the stream tab. The post is directly notified to all the current students of that Google classroom (who have already joined). The classroom members can discuss something or clarify their doubts via the stream tab. This feature can be accessed by using "announce something to your class". One can put Google drive link, Youtube video link, file, or link of any article or a website. Classwork
If a teacher wants to give an assignment, he or she uses the classwork tab to access this feature. He or she can announce the assignment by uploading a file with questions. The grade can be set by a teacher. Once the assignment is published, the student gets a notification. Once the student submits the assignment, the teacher can give a grade to the assignment. The teacher can even share the subject material under the 'create material' tab. He or she can post a question too by this tab. 
People
By this tab, one can get the list of people who are active members of the class including teachers and students. There can be multiple teachers for the class. A teacher can be invited by an already joined teacher. All the students can join the classroom by initiation code-shared by the teacher or by email invitation from a teacher. The link can be shared (by email, link on WhatsApp) by students or teachers. The final class member or people can be moderated by the teacher. If a teacher wants to remove any student, he or she can do it by deleting or removing the student from the list of people. 
Grades
All the assignments posted by the teacher can be shown in this tab. The grade given by the teacher to a student can be accessed by CSV or excel file. The image shows such a list having assignments and grades received by the students. The teacher can download the excel file and present or print it as per need. The grade sheet also shows comments like late submission, not submitted, or submitted. This shows the credibility of a student and seriousness. 
Conclusion
The Google classroom provides an online platform where teachers and students can communicate with each other by sharing content in form of a link, videos, or files. Assignment can be given by the teacher and all such graded assignments can be downloaded as per need. Thus, it is a very good tool for teachers and students in this digital era.

Google classroom is a great facility as it is a platform for the teachers and students to share a class in the desired manner. There are many facilities in this portal which is specifically made for education purposes. One can switch from class to assignment to student modes easily and the teacher can track the progress of the student and see it in the student information system (SIS). It is a transparent system where the student would be seeing his scores and grades on a continuous basis. Teachers can take advantage of this platform in connecting with their students.
Right now it is a free version but soon Google is going to introduce the premium paid version also where many specific facilities will be available.
