Reliance Foundation Scholarships for undergraduate and postgraduate studies

Looking for a scholarship to pursue a course in AI in India? Reliance Foundation is offering scholarships for UG and PG students to pursue courses in Artificial Intelligence, Computer Sciences, Mathematics & Computing, and Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering. Reliance Foundation has opened applications for its scholarship program that offers grants to meritorious undergraduate and postgraduate students who are in their first year of academic studies in an engineering or technology program (see specific fields that are mentioned later in the article) in an institute in India. Additionally, a unique development program will allow students to interact with experts in their chosen field of study, take up an internship, volunteer in projects/programs, and be part of an alumni network.

About the Reliance Foundation Scholarship

There are a total of 100 scholarships available, 60 for undergraduate students, and 40 for postgraduate students.

Scholarship grant

The total amount of the Reliance Foundation scholarship is up to Rs. 4 lakhs for the duration of the degree program for undergraduate students, while for postgraduate students it is up to 6 lakhs. A majority of the grant will be disbursed when the academic year begins so that the student can avail of the funds to pay the tuition fees and other academic expenses. The rest of it (that is, 20%) can be availed of when the request is put in to support indirect expenses, such as for attending a conference or for something related to professional development.

Reliance Foundation Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

Only Indian citizens who are residents are eligible to apply for the scholarships. Other requirements are as follows-

Educational Qualifications

To apply for an undergraduate scholarship, you should have passed the JEE (Main) Paper-1 Common Rank List (CRL) exam with a rank of 1-35,000. To apply for a postgraduate scholarship, you should have passed the GATE exam and secured a score of 550-1000 OR you should have an undergraduate CGPA score of 7.5 or above (or percentage that is normalised to CGPA, using the conversion formula CGPA=% of marks/9.5).

Degree programs

You should be currently enrolled in a full-time recognized Bachelor's or Master's Degree program (as applicable for the UG or PG level) in any of these fields-

Other scholarships/funding

You are permitted to avail of any other partial scholarships for the undergraduate program. If you are in a postgraduate program, then you must provide details of financial assistance if any from other sources. As per the policy of the Reliance Foundation scholarship program, a stipend from other sources of up to a maximum of Rs 15,000 per month during the scholarship period is allowed.

Reliance Foundation Scholarship Application procedure

Applications for the scholarships should be submitted online at the Reliance Foundation Scholarship application portal.

The first step is to fill up the eligibility questionnaire, selecting the undergraduate or postgraduate scholarship as applicable. On fulfilling the required eligibility criteria, you will receive an email intimation on the further procedure to log in and apply.

During the online application, you will be required to provide the following-
  1. Personal information (name, address, contact details, etc)
  2. Academic and extra-curricular details
  3. Two Letters of Reference, one that attests to your academic capabilities, and the second to your character and leadership traits
  4. Two Essays, one a Personal Statement, and the other a Statement of Purpose

Important dates

The last date to submit the online application for the scholarship is 14th February 2022, 11.59 p.m.
A virtual interview will be scheduled if you are shortlisted, the date of which will be intimated to you.
The scholars who are selected will be announced in June 2022.
