Indian Air Force invites applications from eligible candidates for an apprenticeship training program for technical trades under the National Apprenticeship Promotion Scheme (NAPS). Both men and women can apply and are required to appear for the Air Force Apprentice Training Written Test (A3TWT)-03/22.

About the IAF Apprenticeship Program

The training program will begin on 1st April 2022 at the Air Force Station in Ojhar, Nashik, Maharashtra. The main course number for the training program is A3TWT Entry and there are eight Technical Trades.

The types of trades, the individual course number of each, and the number of seats are as follows-
  1. For Machinist (03/M/2022): 4 seats

  2. For Sheet Metal (03/SM/2022): 7 seats

  3. For Welder (Gas and Electric) (03/W/2022): 6 seats

  4. For Mechanic (Radio Radar Aircraft) (03/ERR/2022): 9 seats

  5. For Carpenter (03/C/2022): 3 seats

  6. For Electrician Aircraft (03/EA/2022): 24 seats

  7. For Painter-General (03/PG/2022): 1 seat

  8. For Fitter (02/F/2022): 26 seats




Stipend

On selection for the apprenticeship training program, you will receive a monthly stipend of Rs.7,700/-. This is a fixed stipend as per the Central Govt. norms and as per the guidelines of the Regional Directorate of Apprenticeship Training (RDAT), Mumbai.

Selection process

The written test and a practical exam will be conducted for the respective trades as part of the selection procedure at the Air Force Station in Ojhar, Nashik. You must take a valid ID proof when you appear for the selection tests. Mobile phones and electronic devices are strictly not allowed in the Test areas and in the Technical areas.

Selection will be purely on a meritorious basis as per the academic marks of the qualifying exams (see eligibility criteria below), and the scores of the written test and practical exam. If you have already completed an apprenticeship program or are currently enrolled in one, then you are not eligible to apply.

Eligibility requirements

Educational Qualifications: For all Trades, you are required to have passed the Class 10 exam and Class 10+2 exam/equivalent exam with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate. Additionally, you must have a valid ITI Certificate with a minimum of 65% marks in aggregate.

Age criteria: As of 1st April 2022, the age should be between 14 and 21 years if you are applying in the General Category. If applying in the OBC category, the age should be between 14 and 24 years, and for SC and ST category it is 14 to 26 years. An additional relaxation in age of two years may be given for those who are wards of Air Force Civilian/Defence Employees, as per approval from the Air Force HQ.

Physical Standards: You should have a minimum height of 137cm, and a minimum weight of 25.4kg.

Medical Fitness: You must have a valid medical fitness certificate that is issued by a Medical Officer who is not below the rank of an Assistant Surgeon (Gazetted). Only medically fit candidates from those selected will receive a call letter to join the training program.

Application procedure

You have to register and submit the application in online mode only at the NAPS portal.

During the online registration process, you must ensure that the details of the Aadhar Card match exactly with the name, date of birth, and the gender on the card.

During the online application process, you need to scan and upload the following documents-
  • The Class 10/Matriculation passing certificate

  • The Intermediate/10+2 or equivalent mark sheet

  • The ITI Certificate

  • A recent passport size colour photo (not over 50KB in size) which should be a front portrait taken on a light background. No headgear should be worn (an exception is for Sikhs)

  • Your signature


Important dates

Closing date of applications: 19th February 2022.
Selection process: 1st March to 3rd March 2022.
Commencement of the training program: 1st April 2022.



Additional notes: Candidates should check the official website to know the duration of the training for each individual trade, including for the basic training component and for the subsequent on-the-job training. On receiving the call letter, you need to send your acceptance and will likely be required to sign a contract of apprenticeship prior to starting the apprenticeship program.
