Eligibility Criteria
1.Ph.D./ MTech(Research)
Available in all major Science Disciplines, Engineering and other interdisciplinary areas.
Eligibility: The candidates who wish to get admission in a PhD programme at IISc, Bangalore must have obtained a Master's degree in Science or MA Economics or MA Geography or MA Psychology/MSc Psychology or Master's degree in Management or MCom or Master's degree in Operations Research or Master's degree in Computer Science or Master's degree in Computer Application or Master's degree in Engineering / Technology /Architecture or MA Agriculture or MSc Agriculture or MPharm or M.VSc or MBBS or MD or MS or MBA or Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology or Bachelor of Science (4-years) or B.Pharm or BE/BTech equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MoE/UPSC/AICTE, etc. They must have secured a minimum of 2nd class or equivalent in the qualifying degree. They must have qualified for the GATE/ GPAT/NET JRF/other National entrance exam and must have a valid score. Under NET JRF following exams are included: Joint CSIR-UGC NET- JRF, UGC-NET-JRF, DBT-JRF, ICMR-JRF, JEST, NBHM Screening Test 2022, INSPIRE etc.
Mode of Selection: Selection of the candidates will be done based on an online test and/or interview. Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in the National Level Test and/or the qualifying degree. 2.MTech/ MDes/ M.Mgt
MTech Courses
For admission in MTech courses, applicants must have a Master's degree in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Instrumentation, Electronics, Computer Applications or a bachelor's degree in the field of Engineering /Technology or BE/BTech/BArch or equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MoE/UPSC/AICTE. They must have secured a minimum of Second Class or equivalent in the qualifying degree and have a valid GATE2019 / 2020 / 2021/2022 score. For SC/ST candidates, the minimum class for the qualifying degree exam is "Pass class".
Mode of Selection: Based on GATE score and /or performance in online written test and interview as applicable.M.Des
Applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering / Technology Design / Architecture with a minimum of second class (pass class for SC/ST candidates) and with a valid GATE 2020/ 2021/2022 or CEED 2022 score as of 01 August 2022.
Mode of Selection: Shortlist and final selection will be based on a design aptitude test and interview based on the GATE/ CEED score. Mode of Selection: Candidates will be selected through an interview. Short-listing of candidates will be done for online interviews based on GATE / CAT / GMAT scores. Life science
Eligibility: Applicant must possess a minimum of first-class or equivalent in Bachelor's or an equivalent degree in Physical, Chemical or Biological Sciences (including Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary Sciences and Agricultural Sciences) or JAM 2022 in Biotechnology(BT) or Chemistry (CY) or Mathematics (MA) or Physics (PH) paper. A minimum of first-class or equivalent in BE/B Tech degree.GATE in Biotechnology (BT), Biomedical Engineering (BM), Electronics Communication Engineering (EC), Ecology (EY), Mathematics (MA), Physics (PH), Life Sciences (XL).
Mode of selection: Candidates will be shortlisted for test/interview based on their JAM 2022 in BT, CY, MA, PH score / GATE in BT, BM, EC, EY, MA, PH, XL score.Chemical Sciences:
Eligibility: Applicant must hold a minimum of first-class in B.Sc. or an equivalent degree with chemistry as one of the main subjects with Mathematics at the PUC or +2 level in JAM 2022 in Chemistry(CY).
Mode of selection: The candidate will be selected based on performance in the JAM 2022 CY score.4. Integrated PhD
Biological Sciences
Eligibility: A minimum of first-class or equivalent in Bachelor's or an equivalent degree in Physical, Chemical or Biological Sciences including Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary Sciences and Agricultural Sciences or BE/BTech degree. They must have qualified for the JAM 2021 exam in biotechnology(BT) Chemistry (CY) or mathematics (MA) or Physics(PH)Biotechnology (BT). Chemical Sciences
Eligibility: A minimum of the first class in BSc or an equivalent degree with Chemistry as one of the main subjects with mathematics at the Plus 2 standard. They must have qualified for the JAM 2021 with chemistry (CY) or physics (PH).Mathematical Sciences
Eligibility: A minimum of the first class (pass class in case of SC/ST candidates)or equivalent in BSc or equivalent degree with Mathematics as one of the subjects or BE/BTech or equivalent degree. They must have qualified for the JAM 2021 in mathematics (MA) or mathematical Statistics (MS).Physical Sciences
Eligibility: A minimum of first-class or equivalent in BSc or an equivalent degree with Physics or/BTech or equivalent in any discipline. They must have qualified for the JAM 2022 in physics (PH) or JEST 2021.
Selection procedure: Selection of the candidates for admission in integrated PhD courses will be based on the performance in the online interview (Chemical sciences) and combined performance in written tests and online interviews (Biological, Physical and Mathematical Sciences). Shortlisting of the candidates will be done based on their JAM2022 score (for all four disciplines such as Biological, Physical, Chemical and Mathematical Sciences) and JEST 2022 for Physical Sciences. 5. Ph.D./M.Tech under External Registration Programme (ERP)
Eligibility: The educational qualifications for the integrated PhD courses is the same as those for the regular PhD courses. They must or must not have qualified in one of the national entrance tests like CSIR-UGC NET for JRF, UGC-NET for JRF, DBT JRF, ICMR JRF, GATE, NBHM. Further, the candidate should have completed two years of full-time employment in the current organization after completion of degree and must be sponsored by their employing organizations.
Selection procedure: Selection of the candidates for the PhD programme under ERP will be based on the performance in an online interview.
Scholarships: All the regular students (except M.Mgt) will be eligible for scholarship from MHRD/ CSIR/ UGC/ ICMR/ DBT/ DST/ AICTE/ DAE (NBHM) depending upon their mode of entry. They can also avail the of scholarships from many Indian as well as multinational agencies and business houses.
Reservation: There will be a provision of reservation or concession or any relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/ EWS and the Person with disability (PwD) as well as Kashmiri-Migrant (KM), Kashmiri Pandits/Kashmiri Hindu Families(Non-Migrants) living in the Kashmir valley as per Government of India regulations.
