The Recruitment and Assessment Centre (RAC) is a unit of the Defence R&D Organization (DRDO), Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India. Other than scheduling programs to hire eligible candidates for the position of Scientists in DRDO, and conducting assessments to determine promotions, RAC also selects candidates for postgraduate academic programs as part of the research and training program of DRDO.
Accordingly, it now invites applications from female students to apply for the scholarship scheme for girls in specific areas of engineering through the Aeronautics Research and Development Board (AR&DB), DRDO HQ for FY 2021-22.

Highlights of DRDO Scholarship Scheme for Girls

The scholarships will be awarded purely on a meritorious basis to eligible candidates, and you can get only one scholarship at a time. Hence, you must submit a certificate from the institute where you have secured admission that you are not availing of any other scholarship from any other institute or department or agency. It is also necessary that for each academic year, pass all the tests and exams to maintain a cumulative grade point average of 7.00 or 70% marks. The scholarship amount will be disbursed through the institute only.

One of the plus points of the DRDO Scholarship Scheme for Girls is that there is no requirement for you to sign any Bond that requires you to be associated with DRDO on completing your studies. You will, though, be required to undertake the final year project work of the course work preferably at a DRDO lab or at a Govt. Lab or in an AR&DB-funded project in any institution.



Scholarships for Undergraduate students

Scholarship amount: Rs.1,20,000/- per year or annual fee, whichever is less, for a maximum period of 4 years.

There are a total of 20 scholarships for those who are pursuing a full-time 4-year Degree course, specifically a B.E. or B.Tech. or B.Sc. (Engineering) course. If you are pursuing a dual degree course or an integrated Master's Degree in the specified subjects, you are permitted to apply but will receive the scholarship amount only for the first four years as applicable for the B.Tech degree course under the above scheme, and as per eligibility criteria.



Scholarships for Postgraduate students

Scholarship amount: Rs.15500/- per month subject to Rs.186000/- per year for a maximum period of two years.

There are a total of 10 scholarships for those who are pursuing a full-time 2-year Degree course, specifically an M.E., M.Tech. or M.Sc. (Engineering) course.

Eligibility requirements

Nationality: You must be an Indian national. Applications from women students who are not Indian nationals will not be accepted.

Academic Qualification: For the UG scholarship, you should have obtained admission to the first year of the current academic year, that is, 2021-22 to the relevant B.E. or B. Tech. or B.Sc. Engg. Course. In addition, you should have passed the JEE (Main) and have a valid JEE (Main) score. Without this score, your application will be rejected.

For the PG scholarship, you should have obtained admission to the first year of the current academic year, that is, 2021-22 to the relevant M.E. or M.Tech. or M.Tech. or M.Sc. course. In addition, you should have scored a minimum of 60% in the qualifying exam (B.E./B.Tech./B.Engg. as applicable) or CGPA/CPI of 6.75 (for a 10-point scale), that is, the Graduation level exam for getting admission to the subject course as per AICTE/MHRD norms. In addition, you must have a valid score in the General Aptitude Test in Engineering. Without this score, your application will be rejected.

Application procedure for DRDO Scholarship Scheme for Girls

You should register and submit your application in online mode only at the RAC-DRDO scholarship scheme portal through the Mozilla Firefox browser or the Google Chrome browser (ver. 95 or higher). Ensure that you select the right scholarship that you are applying for since there is sometimes more than one ongoing scholarship scheme. You must upload all the required documents in clear attachments and provide all details correctly, otherwise, your application will be rejected.

The list of documents you should scan and keep ready for uploading with the online application is-
(i) All requisite academic certificates.
(ii) A recent passport size colour photo (not more than size 50 KB).
(iii) Aadhar Card (not more than size 500 KB).
(iv) Proof of admission to the institute where you are pursuing the UG/PG course (max. size 500 KB).
(v) Fees details (max. size 500 KB).
(vi) A certificate from the institute indicating that you have got admission and are not availing of any other scholarship (max. size 500 KB). The prescribed certificate can be downloaded from the official website.



Important note: Each certificate should be converted into a separate PDF or JPG image file as required, and the PDF should not be password-protected. An uploaded photo should have clarity, and an uploaded document must be legible.

On successful submission of the online application, take a printout for your own reference. You will also receive a copy of it via email and SMS. You don't need to send a copy of it to DRDO.

The last date to submit online applications for the DRDO Scholarship for Girls is 31st March 2022 by 11.59 p.m.
