The Indian Institute of Sciences (IISc), Bengaluru, has released a notification (No. : IISc/Acad/Admission/2022/82) and invited applications from eligible applicants for admissions to regular courses, including research programmes, engineering, science, and management programmes, for Academic Year 2022-23, the session starting August 2022.

Eligibility Criteria
Minimum eligibility conditions must be fulfilled by the applicants. The candidates who are in the final semester/year of their qualifying examinations are also eligible to apply provided that they complete the required qualification by July 31st, 2022 and further furnish the necessary proofs/certificates on or before October 31st, 2022. The following are the eligibility requirements:
1. Research Programmes (Ph D/M Tech (Research))
For admission in research programmes including Ph.D. and M.Tech. (Research), applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/ Technology or Bachelor of Science (4-year) or Master's degree in Science / Master's degree in Economics, Geography, Psychology, Management, Commerce, Operations Research, Computer Science, Computer Application or Master's degree in Engineering, Technology, Architecture, Agriculture, Pharmacy, Veterinary Sciences or MS/MBA (post-BE/B.Tech./M.Sc.) or Four-years graduation degree from any Centrally Funded Technical Institution with a minimum CGPA of 8 out of 10 or its equivalent or MBBS or M.D. or B.Pharm. or B.E./ B.Tech./equivalent examinations of Professional Societies, recognized by MoE/UPSC/AICTE.
A minimum grade of 2nd class or equivalent in the above-mentioned degrees as applicable to the individual departments/areas ("Pass class" in the case of SC/ST students).
A candidate must have qualified for any national level entrance test such as GATE/NET-JRF (CSIR-UGC NET-JRF; UGC-NET-JRF; DBT-JRF; ICMR-JRF; JEST; NBHM Research Award; DST-INSPIRE)/GPAT, or any other national level test, whichever is applicable. Candidates must have a certificate or scorecard valid as of August 1, 2022.
Selection procedure Shortlisting of candidates will be done based on their performance in the qualifying degree and/or National Entrance Test. For the selection of the candidates, the aptitude test and/or interview (in some of the departments, preliminary interviews will proceed with the final interview) will be conducted.
To be eligible for admission to M.Tech. programmes, applicants must hold a bachelor's degree in engineering or technology (B.E./B.Tech.) or B.Arch. or any equivalent examination recognised by MoE/UPSC/AICTE or a Master's degree in Physical Sciences, Mathematics, Statistics, Geology, Instrumentation, Electronics, or Computer Applications.
He/she must possess a minimum of Second Class or equivalent in a bachelor's degree and "pass class" in the case of SC/ST students.
He/she must have a valid GATE 2020, 2021, or 2022 score.
Selection Procedure Based on GATE and performance in written tests and/or interviews.
M.Des. Eligibility
The minimum eligibility for this course is a Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Technology Design, or Architecture.
Applicants must secure a minimum grade of the second class in a Bachelor's degree and "pass class" in the case of SC/ST students.
They must have a valid GATE-2020, 2021, 2022 or CEED-2022 score as of August 1, 2022.
Selection Procedure Selection of the candidates will be done through a design aptitude test and an interview. For this, candidates will be shortlisted based on their GATE/CEED score. 70% GATE/CEED + 30% performance in design aptitude test and interview will be considered for shortlisting. The candidate will be called for the aptitude test and interview at IISc on a scheduled date. Admission offers to the selected students based on GATE scores will be offered through the Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP). Therefore, students with HSTE need to register on the COAP portal. While those are selected based on CEED, offer letters will be sent directly to them by the institute.
Master of Management (M.Mgt.) Eligibility
For admission to Master of Management (M.Mgt.), applicants must possess a Bachelor's degree in Engineering/Technology or equivalent with a minimum grade of "first class" or equivalent ("pass class" in the case of SC/ST students).
They must have valid GATE-2020, 2021, 2022, CAT 2021, or GMAT scores as of August 1, 2022.
Selection procedure Short-listing of candidates will be done based on GATE/CAT/GMAT scores. Selection will be based on 15% (GATE/CAT/GMAT scores) + 15% UG performance + 30% communication skills + 40% performance in interview.
3. Science Course Programs (M.Sc.)
Eligibility
For admission to M.Sc. (Life Sciences), candidates must have passed a Bachelor's or an equivalent degree in Physical, Chemical, or Biological Sciences (including Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences) or BE or B.Tech. degree with a minimum grade of first-class or equivalent ("pass class" in the case of SC/ST students). Candidates with a B.Sc. degree must have passed JAM 2022 in Biotechnology (BT) or Chemistry (CY) or Mathematics (MA) or Physics (PH) paper, while those who have a BE or B.Tech. degree must have qualified GATE in Biotechnology (BT), Biomedical Engineering (BM), Electronics Communication Engineering (EC), Ecology (EY), Mathematics (MA), Physics (PH), Life Sciences (XL) Paper.
Applicants for M.Sc. (Chemical Sciences) must have a first-class degree in B.Sc. with Chemistry and have studied Mathematics at the PUC or Plus 2 level. In the case of SC/ST students, the minimum class for the qualifying examination is "Pass class". Also, they must have qualified for the JAM 2022 in Chemistry (CY) Paper.
Selection Procedure For admission to Life Sciences, there will be a written test and an interview (50% mark for the written test and 50% mark for the interview). Shortlisting for tests or interviews will be based on their JAM 2022 score in BT, CY, MA, PH or GATE score in BT, BM, EC, EY, MA, PH, XL. Selection for Chemical Sciences will be based on the JAM 2022 CY score only.
4. Integrated Doctoral Programs
Eligibility
For admission to integrated Ph.D. (Biological Sciences), applicants must hold a minimum grade of first-class or equivalent ("pass class" in the case of SC/ST students) in their Bachelor's or an equivalent degree in Physical, Chemical, or Biological Sciences (including Biotechnology, Pharmaceutical, Veterinary Sciences, and Agricultural Sciences) or BE or B.Tech. degree. They must have qualified for JAM 2022 in one of the following papers: Biotechnology (BT), Chemistry (CY), Mathematics (MA), or Physics (PH).
For admission to integrated Ph.D. (Chemical Sciences), applicants must possess a minimum grade of the first class ("pass class" in the case of SC/ST students) in B.Sc. Chemistry and Chemistry and Mathematics at the PUC or Plus 2 level. They must also have qualified for JAM 2022 in either the Chemistry (CY) or Physics (PH) Paper.
For admission to integrated Ph.D. (Mathematical Sciences), applicants must have a minimum grade of first-class or equivalent ("pass class" in the case of SC/ST students) in B.Sc. Mathematics or equivalent degree with Mathematics or BE/B.Tech. or equivalent degree. They must have qualified for JAM 2022 in Mathematics (MA) or Mathematical Statistics (MS).
For admission to integrated Ph.D. (Physical Sciences), applicants must have a minimum grade of "first-class" or equivalent ("pass class" in the case of SC/ST students) in B.Sc. with Physics or BE/B.Tech. or equivalent in any discipline. They must have qualified for either JAM 2022 in Physics (PH) or JEST 2022.
Selection Procedure Candidates for Ph.D. programme admissions in Life Sciences, Chemical Sciences, and Mathematical Sciences will be shortlisted for interviews based on their JAM 2022 score and their JEST 2022 score for Physical Sciences. Selection will be based on performance in the qualifying examination and/or interview.
5. External Registration Programme (ERP)
Any professional from R & D organisations or industries and a faculty member from veterinary colleges, medical colleges, or universities, recognised by the appropriate government agencies, can pursue a Ph.D. or M.Tech. (Research) under the ERP programme.
Eligibility The educational qualifications are the same as for regular candidates, except that the requirement of qualifying for the national entrance tests is desirable. They must have completed two years of full-time employment in the current organisation following the completion of their degree and be sponsored by their organization. Such candidates need to submit the online application form and also submit a printed copy of the form (2-sets) on or before March 29, 2022.

Applications for all the programmes are available in the 'Admissions Tab' on the official website of IISc. The applicants are advised to visit the IISc admission portal regularly to check for updates.
Application Fee
There will be an application fee to be paid by the candidate. The fee is non-refundable and is to be paid online through net banking, debit card, or visa/master credit card. Reservation Policy
Reservations, relaxations, and concessions will be given to candidates belonging to SC, ST, OBC, EWS, PWD, and Kashmiri-Migrants (KM), Kashmiri Pandits, and Kashmiri Hindu Families (Non-Migrants) living in the Kashmir valley as per Government of India regulations.
