Looking for a government internship program for engineering students in Rajasthan? There are opportunities for postgraduates, as well as graduates in engineering, medical, and law to apply for the Young Interns Program (YIP)-2022 offered by the Department of Planning, Government of Rajasthan. This article provides complete information on the eligibility criteria, stipend given, the application procedure, and selection process.
The Department of Planning, Directorate of Economics and Statistics, Government of Rajasthan invites applications from postgraduates for the Young Interns Program (YIP)-2022. Graduates in specific fields fulfilling the required eligibility criteria can also apply.
At the outset, it should be noted that since it is a full-time program, applicants should be prepared to focus only on the work assigned to them for the entire duration of the internship program, as they will not be allowed to take up any other work or be employed in a job that provides a regular remuneration. Nor does the internship provide any employment or guarantee that those who complete the internship will get a job. Applicants are required to have their own laptops and make provision for their own data card/internet facility.
About the Young Interns Program
The YIP will be primarily under the management of the Dept. of Planning, while the aspects of executing it and managing the finances for it will be handled by the Directorate of Economics and Statistics (DES). The goal of the program is to give youth an opportunity to be involved with the State Govt.'s projects and schemes and, on the other hand, make the public aware of these to ensure it reaches the maximum number of people.
There are multiple benefits to enrolling in this internship program. Other than getting a direct insight into how the State Govt. plans and implements various regulatory policies and programs, you will acquire valuable skills in the assessment and critical perspective of administrative work. You will receive an excellent stipend of Rs.30,000/-, and Rs.2,500/- each month will be given to you for use of your own laptop and connectivity. However, no travel allowance or other allowances will be paid for field visits and the like, and no medical insurance will be provided.
You are permitted to select the Department of your choice for the internship, during the application process. The Departments include a diverse range of fields, such as the Department of Science and Technology, where you can work, for example, on Geospatial technologies; the Police Department, where you can work on remedies for cybercrimes; the Tourism Department, where you can work on the development of augmented and virtual reality features at tourist destinations in the State, and so on. The full list of departments and sectors is available in the Guidelines pdf doc. at the official website.
The internship will be split across two phases, the first in the first year, and the second in the second year of the two-year program. Once you have succeeded in doing well in the first phase, you will be eligible for the second phase. On successfully completing the internship program, you are required to submit a report to the Department's Nodal Officer or Supervisor, as applicable, and it will be assessed for quality and utility. The Officer/Supervisor will then submit it to the Head of the Department with a recommendation of approval or disapproval, as the case may be. The Head of the Department will, in turn, forward it to DES with his/her own recommendations. Once the reports are duly approved by the Administrative Secretary, you will be awarded the internship completion certificate by DES.
Note that it is possible that the State Govt. may end the internship at any point of time for whatever reasons, in which case the internship will be terminated. Also, as an intern, you will not be considered as a regular employee of the Department or of DES.
