MoSPI Internship Scheme for Post-Graduate and Research Students 2022-23

The Ministry of Statistics & Programme Implementation (MoSPI), Government of India, has invited applications from post-graduate or research students of statistics, mathematical statistics, operations research, economics, demography, or any of the applied fields of statistics for internship under the summer internship scheme for 2022-23, via notification No. A-33022/2/2021-Trg dated February 22, 2022.The Aim of the Internship
This internship aims to provide opportunities to students pursuing post-graduate/research in statistics, mathematics, operational research, economics, demography, or any related subject to get acquainted with the prevailing system of official statistics in the country and understand data collection, processing, analysis, publication, and dissemination needs so that they can be aware of the Indian Statistical Service and Subordinate Statistical Service and get motivated to make their career in the field of statistics. The broad fields/disciplines available for internship are:
Intake Capacity: In this internship scheme, there will be a total of 195 interns.
Place of Internship: Interns will be selected under two groups, namely "Group A" and "Group B." Applications are invited for internships in offices in New Delhi under "Group A." whereas, under Group "B", applications are invited for internships in offices located in the rest of the country. Duration of Internship: The duration of this internship will be 2 months from the date of joining. The joining date may be different depending upon the selection points/internship centres. However, the internship must be completed by August 2022. An intern will have to complete a 2-month internship to get the stipend and certificate.
Remuneration:Each intern will be paid Rs. 10,000/- (Rs. 5000/- per month). There will be no cash payments for the stipend. The stipend will be transferred through electronic means directly to the bank account of the intern. Hence, they will have to submit their bank account details after joining the internship. This total amount would be paid at the end of the internship upon successful completion. The internship amount will be paid through the electronic mode of funds transfer/Aadhaar Payments Bridge (APB)/Aadhaar Enabled Payment System (AEPS) only. Furthermore, the interns who will join an internship at NSO (FOD) Zonal/Regional Offices will receive an additional amount of Rs. 250/-per day. This amount will be paid to undertake field visits (if required), but the number of days will not exceed a maximum of 10 days in the entire period of 2 months of internship as per the decision of the Head of the respective Zonal/Regional Offices.
Candidates must note that the ministry will not pay any Travelling Allowance or Daily allowance etc. for joining the place of internship allotted to them. They will have to make arrangements for lodging, boarding, and transport themselves.
Facilities for the interns
Logistic Facility: All the interns, whether they are in Group A or Group B, will be provided with minimum logistics support, including office space, with intercom facility, computer, with internet facility, etc. However, in some cases, interns may have to carry their laptops.
Library Facility: Interns will have access to the literature and study materials available in the library/office. Each intern will be allocated a guide/nodal officer with whom he/she may interact.
Expected output from the intern:At the end of the internship, each intern shall prepare a report by incorporating observations and suggestions and submit a hard copy and soft copy of the report.
Internship Certificate:All the participants who successfully complete the internship will be issued an internship completion certificate by the respective offices where they are attached. However, those who leave or discontinue the internship before the completion of two months will not get any stipend or certificate.Eligibility Criteria
Application Procedure
Interested candidates must visit the official website of the MoSPI and check the official notification for eligibility. The applicant can submit only one application for the internship.
First, the candidate must register themselves on the National Career Service (NCS) Portal www.ncs.gov.in. After registration, an NCS ID will be generated that will be used to fill out the application form.
The application format (MS Excel file) can be downloaded by clicking on the Group A or Group B option. Candidates must fill in the details in this downloaded MS Excel file. The filled-in application form must be printed. A passport-sized recent coloured photograph is to be pasted and an undertaking is to be signed. The applicant's photograph and No Objection Certificate should be attested by the Head of Institution where the applicant is currently enrolled.
A scanned copy of the duly filled-in, singed/attested application, complete in all respects, must be sent to the concerned nodal offices/selection point through email (Email IDs are provided in Annex-I & II in the official notification) with a copy to training-mospi@nic.in. The subject line of the email must mention "Application for Internship for Post-Graduate/Research Students – 2022–23". Candidates should be aware that if they are chosen, they will be required to submit an original hard copy to the selection point before beginning their internship.Required Documents

Important Note: The application form must be accompanied by the filled-in MS Excel file. The application would be rejected without an MS Excel file. Applicants must send their internship-related queries to the nodal officers of the respective internship centres through email. The subject line "Internship for Post-Graduate/Research Students—2022–23" must be mentioned.Selection Procedure
Scrutiny of all the applications will be done following the procedure decided by the Training Unit, MoSPI. For Group "A', interns would be selected by the Training Unit, MoSPI, while for Group "B", by the respective Regional Heads of ROs of NSO (FOD) for ROs, ZOs, DESs, and other internship centres.
Selection criteria will involve the aggregate marks obtained at graduation. Candidates must mention the qualifying subjects of graduation while mentioning the aggregate marks obtained in graduation. The internship offices will be allocated to the interns based on the above selection criteria and the place option opted by the candidates.Intimation of Selection
Candidates would be intimated about their selection through e-mail. An email will be sent to the email ID provided in the application form. The names of the selected candidates will also be displayed on the website of the MoSPI (in the case of Group "A" on the website of the MoSPI and on the notice board of the respective offices in the case of Group "B").
