CSIR-IIP PhD programs admissions August 2022


CSIR-IIP has announced admissions to Ph.D. programs in Science and Engineering sessions starting from August 2022. Read this article to check out details of Ph.D. programs, subjects offered, research areas, eligibility criteria, application procedure etc.

CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum is an integral research laboratory of the Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR), Government of India. Here research and development are carried out in multidisciplinary areas in the energy sector such as biofuels, clean energy, CO2 recovery and utilization, Biotechnology, nanomaterials, etc. CSIR-IIP has released an official notification for Ph.D. admissions in August 2022 in Sciences and Engineering and invited applications from highly motivated students for Ph.D. programmes under the Academy of Scientific and Innovative Research (AcSIR). Tuition Fee

A tuition fee of Rs.8000/- per semester (twice a year) is to be paid by all students including provisional and regular enrolled under the AcSIR PhD program till submission of the thesis.



Eligibility Requirements

PhD Chemical Sciences

For admission to Ph.D. Chemical Sciences, the applicant must hold a master's degree in Chemical Sciences with a valid National level fellowship such as JRF/SRF of CSIR or UGC or DBT or DST or INSPIRE or RGNF or other equivalent fellowships. They must have a strong interest in research in frontier areas of Chemical Science.

Ph.D. in Biological Sciences

Candidate must have a master's degree in Biotechnology / Biochemistry/ Microbiology / Life sciences or related Biological Science with a valid National level fellowship such as JRF/SRF of CSIR or UGC or DBT or DST or INSPIRE or RGNF or other equivalent fellowships.

Ph.D. in Engineering

The candidates who wish to join Ph.D. in Engineering must have passed a master's degree in Engineering/Technology following a four-year engineering/technology or 4-5-year science degree, or an integrated minimum-5-year M Tech degree; or equivalent.
and
Awarded a national-level fellowship tenable at CSIR institutes
or
Meeting all the conditions required for (any one of the following)-
  • eligibility for the CSIR-SRF
  • award of the INSPIRE fellowship
  • conditions stipulated by AcSIR for Project Assistant for Ph.D. registration
  • conditions stipulated by AcSIR for industry-sponsored students

Note:CSIR Employees (Group III and Group IV) who have the requisite qualifications can also apply for admission to PhD in Science/Engineering.

How to Apply

Candidates who are desirous to join Ph.D. programme at CSIR-IIP and fulfilling the eligibility criteria must visit the official website of IIP. To apply online for admission to Ph.D. programme, candidates must register themselves at http://acsir.res.in. After registration at ACSIR, they must select "CSIR-IIP" as the CSIR lab preference in the application form.

Selection Procedure

The selection of the candidates will be based on their performance in the written test and /or interview. Candidates fulfilling the eligibility criteria will be shortlisted and called for a written test and /or interview. Overall good performers will be selected for admission to the Ph.D. program. A list of finally selected candidates will be displayed on the website of the institute as well as AcSIR. Candidates must note that no TA/DA will be paid by the institute to attend the test and/or interview.



The last date for application submission for admission in Ph.D. programme at IIP for the session starting from August 2022 is May 31, 2022.
