About Chennai Mathematical Institute(CMI)
Chennai Mathematical Institute (CMI), a research institute and college situated in Chennai, India, was set up by Southern Petrochemical Industries Corporation Ltd (SPIC) Science Foundation in 1989. CMI is an autonomous institute recognized by UGC and it offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs in physics, mathematics, and computer science.
Courses offered by CMI for 2022-23
The Courses and Eligibility for admission are as follows;
Candidate should have passed M.Sc. degree in Physics or equivalent
For all the above courses except Ph.D. in Physics, the selection will be based on the Entrance test which will conduct on 22.05.2022 at various centers listed below in this article
For Ph.D. in Physics, the selection will be based on the JEST 2022 performance. There is no separate CMI entrance test for Ph.D. in Physics
For all Ph.D. courses, there will be a personal interview for shortlisted candidates. For all other courses, personal interviews will be there for the shortlisted candidates based on their prior academic records which will be decided by the admission committee
How to apply
Candidates who are interested to apply for CMI 2022 courses (except Ph.D. Physics) should have to write the CMI entrance examinations for 2021-22 are going to conduct at various centers throughout India
Candidates who are interested to apply for CMI 2022 Ph.D. Physics should have to write the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) -2022
CMI Entrance examination for Ph.D. in Mathematics is exempted for those candidates who have qualified in the NBHM Ph.D. Fellowship
CMI entrance examination for Ph.D. in Computer Science is exempted for those candidates who have qualified in the Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST)-2022 in Theoretical Computer Science
Those candidates applying for B.Sc courses with specific achievements through Olympiads (as specified in the Information Brochure) are exempted from CMI B.Sc. Entrance examination
