BITS, Mesra
Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra is a public deemed institute located in Jharkhand. It was established in the year 1955. BIT was the first institute in India to establish a department of space engineering and rocketry. It is the first to offer P.G. programs in association with the Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO). The first institution to be granted autonomous status in 1972 under UGC Act is BITS, Mesra. BIT offers various undergraduate and post-graduate programs.
Admissions 2022
Birla Institute of Technology, Mesra has announced admissions into the following programs:
M.Tech Candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admission to the M.Tech program at Birla Institute of Technology (BITS), Mesra:
B.E. / B.Tech. / AMIE / MCA or equivalent degree in the appropriate disciplines, with a minimum of 55% marks in average (50% marks for SC/ST) ) in graduation or MCA.
OR
M.Sc. / M.A. degree or equivalent in the appropriate disciplines, with a minimum 55% marks in average (50% marks for SC/ST).
GATE 2020 / GATE 2021 / GATE 2022 qualified candidates are preferred. Non-Gate candidates may also apply.
Candidates appearing for the final examinations of their Bachelor's program in 2022 can also apply.
Candidates who have acquired qualifications through correspondence or distance-learning programs are eligible only if the programs are recognized by the AICTE-UGC-DEC. And secured minimum of 55% marks in average (50% marks for SC/ST).
M.Pharm Candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admission to the M. Pharm. program at Birla Institute of Technology (BITS), Mesra:
B.Pharm. degree holders from a PCI and AICTE approved Institute, with a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST) in graduation.
GPAT 2020 / GPAT 2021 / GPAT 2022 qualified candidates are preferred. Non- GPAT candidates may also apply.
Candidates appearing for final examinations of their Bachelor's program/qualifying examination in 2022 can also apply.
MUP Candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admission to the Master of Urban Planning (MUP) program at Birla Institute of Technology (BITS), Mesra:
B.Planning/ B.Arch or equivalent / B.E. in Civil Engineering with a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks for SC/ST) in graduation.
OR
M.Sc./ M.A. degree or equivalent in Geography, Sociology, Economics or Statistics with a minimum of 55% of marks (50% marks for SC/ST)
GATE 2020 / GATE 2021 / GATE 2022 qualified candidates are preferred. Non-Gate candidates may also apply.
Candidates appearing for the final examinations of their Bachelor's program in 2022 can also apply.
Candidates who have acquired qualifications through correspondence or distance-learning programs are eligible only if the programs are recognized by the DEC,IGNOU for M.A./M.Sc. and AICTE-UGC-DEC for others. And secured a minimum of 55% marks in average (50% marks for SC/ST).
M.Sc. Candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria for admission to the M.Sc. program at Birla Institute of Technology (BITS), Mesra:
Candidates must hold a Bachelor's Degree or equivalent qualification.
B.Sc. / B.A. Honours qualified candidates who have a minimum of 55% marks on average (50% marks for SC/ST) in their Honours subject are eligible to apply. Candidates for other graduate courses must have secured a minimum of 55% marks on average (50% marks for SC/ST) in graduation.
JAM / CUET 2022 qualified candidates are preferred. Non-JAM/ CUET candidates may also apply.
Candidates appearing for the final examinations of their Bachelor's program in 2022 can also apply.
Candidates with qualifications acquired through correspondence or distance-learning programs are eligible only if the programs are recognized by the DEC-IGNOU and with a minimum of 55% marks on average (50% marks for SC/ST).
Selection procedure
For GATE/ GPAT/ JAM/ CUCET qualified candidates, selection will be done base on their scores and academic performance. For Non-Gate/ Non-GPAT/ Non-JAM/ CUCET candidates, selection will be done based on their performance in written tests and academic performance. 80% weightage would be given to the Written test and 20%weightage for the Interview.
Schorlarships
Scholarship details are as follows:
GATE/ GPAT scholarships will be given.
Upto 20% fee waiver is awarded to M.Tech/ MUP candidates who have GATE score better than 90%.
GP Birla scholarship will be given.
Financial assistance will be provided to deserving Non- GATE/ Non-GPAT/ candidates not availing any fellowship for 10 months in final year, based on their performance in the previous year.
Application Process
Interested and eligible candidates are requested to apply online at official website. Candidates need to pay the application fee of Rs. 1500/- (For General/ OBC candidates) and Rs. 1000/- (for SC/ ST candidates) through ICICI payment gateway/ netbanking/ debit card/ credit card). Last date to submit online applications is 7th June 2022.
