Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR) is an autonomous institution functioning under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DIVYANGJAN), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. It is located at Olatpur, Cuttack, Odisha.

This institute offers various courses like bachelor's degrees in Physiotherapy (B.P.T.), Bachelor's in Occupational therapy (B.O.T.), Bachelor's degree in Prosthetics and Orthotics (B.P.O.), and master's degree in Occupational therapy (M.O.T), Master in Physiotherapy (M.P.T) and Master in Prosthetics and Orthotics (MPO). It also conducts short orientation courses, awareness programs, and Continuing Medical Education courses for rehabilitation professionals.

SVNIRTAR admissions 2022

Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research (SVNIRTAR), Cuttack has announced admissions for the session 2022-23 to the one-year Post Basic Diploma in Orthopaedic Nursing (PBDON) course. This course is approved by the Odisha Nurses & Midwives registration council, Directorate of Medical Education & Training, Government of Odisha. The total number of seats is 10. Two seats are reserved for candidates sponsored by the Government of Odisha as per horizontal reservation policy.



Eligibility criteria

Candidates have to fulfill the following eligibility criteria to get admission to the Post Basic Diploma in Orthopaedic Nursing (PBDON) course at Swami Vivekananda National Institute of Rehabilitation Training and Research, Cuttack-
  • The candidate must have passed in General Nursing & Midwifery examination conducted by ON&MEB, Odisha or equivalent or Basic/ Post Basic B.Sc. (N) conducted by any recognized University of Odisha or equivalent.
  • The candidate must be a Domicile/Permanent Resident of India and Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife in ONMC or equivalent.
  • In case the candidate has registered their name in State Nursing Council, they have to submit a reciprocal registration certificate from the ONMC within one month from the date of admission.
  • The candidate shall be medically fit for the course.
  • The candidate must have one-year clinical experience as a Staff Nurse.
  • In-service candidates working in Govt./Semi Govt. / Central Autonomous/ PSU Sector has to submit a "No Objection Certificate" from the appointing Authority to undergo the course.

Selection procedure

Candidates will be selected based on their career marks. A merit list will be prepared by giving 25% weightage to HSC/ 10th, 25% to +2/ 12th exam, and 50% to GNM/ B.Sc./ P.B.B.Sc. Nursing. In case of having equal marks in aggregate - The candidates having higher experience shall rank higher in the merit list and In case of a tie, the candidates senior in date of birth shall rank higher in the merit list. Eligible candidates as per the merit list have to appear for the selection committee on the date of schedule and time for counseling cum admission.

Application Process

Interested and eligible candidates are requested to download the application form from the official website of SVNIRTAR, Cuttack. Candidates have to send the filled-in application form along with self-attested photocopies of the documents and original Demand draft drawn in favor of Director, SVNIRTAR, payable at Cuttack to the below address by Registered/ Speed Post/ SVNIRTAR drop box. The application fee is Rs.100/- for SC/ST/PH Candidates and Rs. 200/- for others GEN/ OBC. Applications have to reach the college on or before 1st September 2022. The envelope containing the application form shall be prominently superscribed "Application for Admission into Post Basic Diploma in Orthopaedic Nursing Course 2022-23".

List of Documents:
The self-attested photocopies of the following documents should be attached along with the application form and the original of the same should be produced on the date of Counseling cum Admission-
  • 10th / H.S.C. or equivalent examination pass certificate & mark-sheet.
  • 10 +2 certificate & mark-sheet issued by CHSE, Odisha or equivalent.
  • GNM / B.Sc / Post Basic B.Sc Nursing examination certificate & Mark-sheet issued by ON&MEB or equivalent.
  • R.N/R.M certificate issued by ONMC or any other StateNursing Council.
  • Caste Certificate in case of S.C/S.T/OBC (Not SEBC) candidates.
  • OBC certificate (Non-Creamy layer).
  • Self-attested copy of Resident/ Nativity certificate issued by the competent authority not before 1 year.
  • No Objection Certificate (NOC) (for Govt. /Semi Govt. / Central Autonomous/ PSU employee only).
  • School/College Leaving Certificate/ Transfer Certificate, Certificate of Good Conduct from the educational institution last attended or from the present employer.
  • 2 self-addressed envelopes.
  • 2 self-attested recent color passport size photographs.
  • Declaration in the prescribed form in the original.
  • Medical fitness certificate.

Fee structure

Stipend DetailsDirect candidates will get a stipend of Rs. 2000/- per month and sponsored candidates are not allowed to claim the stipend.
