The National Institute of Kathak Dance at Kathak Kendra, New Delhi has released the admission notification for the music and dance programs for the academic session starting in June 2022.

For decades, the institute has established itself globally as a highly professional institution for teaching the basics as well as the finer nuances of dance and music. Each year, students eagerly wait to get admission to their programs. Meritorious students can avail themselves of scholarships and freeships. In the case of students coming from outside Delhi who wish to enroll in one of the advanced courses, hostel facilities are offered and, if not available, then a house rent subsidy is provided. Students enrolling in any of the programs cannot take up a job on a part-time or full-time basis or take part in a program or event without the Director's prior permission. It is also mandatory to fulfill the required minimum attendance, have good mental and physical health, and be fluent in English or Hindi. The specific skills required as per the music or dance program are provided in the official admission prospectus.
Kathak Dance Courses 2022
Students can enroll for the following Advance courses in Kathak Dance-
To the First year of the Diploma (Hons.) Course: For this three-year full-time course, the age criterion is 18 to 23 years of age as of 1st June 2022. It is also necessary to have completed the Diploma (Pass) course either from Kathak Kendra, Delhi, or have completed a similar type of training.
To the First year of the Post-Diploma Course: For this two-year course, the age criterion is 20 to 26 years, as of 1st June 2022. It is also required to have completed a Diploma (Hons.) course from Kathak Kendra, Delhi, or have completed an equivalent training program.
The Refresher Course: This is a unique short-term course for the duration of six months, for which those who have completed the Diploma (Hons.) Course or the Post Diploma Course from Kathak Kendra, Delhi or have some equivalent type of training, can apply. The age should be below 40 years as of 1st June 2022.
The Preparatory Course: This is a one-year course only for students pursuing the Diploma programs. The age criterion is 18 to 23 years as of 1st June 2022.

The Foundation Course: If you have some exposure to dance training of Kathak, you can take up this five-year course. The age criterion is 10 to 15 years as of 1st June 2022.
To the First year of the Diploma (Pass) Course: You can enroll in this three-year course if you have an interest in any form of art, whether theatre or dance, or music, or visual arts or any other form. The age criterion is 15 to 20 years as of 1st June 2022. It is also required to have completed the Foundation Course from Kathak Kendra, Delhi, or have completed any other equivalent type of training program.Music Courses 2022
For the First year of the Tabla/Pakhawaj Diploma Course: For this five-year music course, the age criterion is 15 to 20 years as of 1st June 2022. Students enrolling for the course should have completed at least a one-year training certificate in Tabla/Pakhawaj.
Special Course in Vocal Music: For this three-year course, the age criterion is between 18 to 30 years of age as of 1st June 2022. It is also essential to have basic knowledge of vocal music.
The institute also offers a certificate course in Tabla/Pakhawaj. For this one-year course, the age criterion is 14 to 17 years as of 1st June 2022. Kathak Kendra courses admission procedure
Students can obtain the application form for the above courses either online at the Kathak Kendra Delhi official website (go to the Tab of academic sessions 2022-23) or offline. Ensure that you fulfill all the eligibility requirements prior to submitting the form.
Online form: The application form is available for download with an online application fee of Rs.200/- at- http://kathakkendra.in/wp-content/uploads/2022/06/Form%20_for%20_Admission.PDF
Offline form: The application form along with the Prospectus can be obtained from the reception desk at Kathak Kendra, Delhi from 13th to 24th June 2022 between 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (Monday to Friday) on cash payment of Rs.200/-.

The last date to receive the application in online or offline mode is 28th June 2022.
The list of candidates who have been shortlisted for the admission test will be displayed on the website as well as on the campus notice board on 6th July 2022.
Classes begin for the academic session 2022-23 for the current batches on 1st July 2022.Key dates of Admission Tests
For Elementary Dance Courses: The test dates for the Elementary Dance Courses are 11th, 12th and 13th July 2022.
The result will be displayed on the website and campus notice board on 18th July 2022.
The submission of the fee and completion of required formalities should be done on 19th, 20th, and 21st July 2022.
Classes will begin for the new batches on 22nd July 2022.
For Advanced Dance Courses: The test dates are 14th, 15th, and 16th July 2022.
For Music Courses: The Test date is 13th July 2022.
The result will be displayed on the website and on the campus notice board on 20th July 2022.
Fee submission and completion of other formalities are to be done on 21st, 22nd, and 23rd July 2022. Classes will begin for the new batches on 25th July 2022.
