Have you just graduated? Are you in need of a job? or may be you know someone in need of one. If you are weary from wondering how and where to look for jobs, this article is just what the doctor ordered! Here are different ways you can chase up your job.

Introduction

Thus goes the tune of a song called "Once…"
"Once I complete my 10th grade, I will not have to worry. Once I finish my 12th grade; I will have bested the toughest phase. Once I get my bachelor's degree, I will never have to work as hard. Once I am bestowed with master's, I will never study ever again. Once I find a job, I will be set for life. Once I....."

Yes. You got it. The song goes on and on, but for now, we will focus on the last finished lyric.

Searching for a job can be stressful and scary especially when you do not know how to go about the process. Whether you are looking for a job for the first time or are in-between jobs or are looking to change up, the following pointers might light up your path.

Options

  • A good way to search for jobs is to go through the official websites of the companies/ institutes you consider joining. These websites usually have a vacancies/ career page. Even if there is no such page or there are no vacancies at that moment, you can find their contact details and send in an email with your resume requesting them to inform you if and when a vacancy opens up. This works if you have something specific in mind, so you know where exactly to look.

  • In some instances, you may not know the existence of certain companies or opportunities and as a result, may miss out on opportunities or you may not be particular and want to cast your net wide. In such a case, browse online for companies that take on individuals with your qualifications/ skills and make a list of them. Then, you can visit websites for all those companies and start applying. For example, if you are looking for a post in a medical college, you can search "medical colleges in insert the place" you are considering or "list of medical colleges in insert the place" or for software jobs, you can search "software companies in insert the place". Go to their websites and apply.

  • Another option is to join email or WhatsApp groups that notify you of jobs in your specific fields. You may have to pay a small fee to these groups if you successfully get the job. Some may even charge you just for the notifications.

  • Alternatively, you can seek opportunities through recruitment/ employment agencies. In addition to assisting you to find a job, they may also introduce you to various other venues that you may qualify for. You have to pay to utilize their services.

  • One more option is to look up reliable jobs-advertising portals like LinkedIn. Here is a suggestion; apply through the official website of companies offering these jobs that you find in places like this if an option to apply on the website exists. LinkedIn usually has this option. In the event such an option is not there, you can still try to find the official website of that company and apply there. However, sometimes, jobs are listed only on job portals.

  • You can also put the word out among your friends, family, and professors/ teachers. They might know just the job for you!

If you are on a hunt for your first job, good luck, and godspeed!

If you are between jobs, what lessons have you learned from your previous employments that you would look out for in the new one?

If you are switching over jobs, good for you for exploring! Feel free to share what prompted you to do so.

The author has given some important methods to search for a job as a job aspirant. There are some portals which will deal with jobs database and also the database of candidates also. So any candidate who wants to get a job should register his name on such important portals. These portals will be sending the candidate alerts about the availability of jobs that will match the profile of the candidate.

On this site, there is a Jobs section. The members of the site will be posting jobs that are available for various qualifications. These advertisements are very reliable as the Editors will see the correctness of the details and then only allow them to be published. So visiting this section on daily basis will give some good information about the availability of jobs.

Another way is to ask our friends and relatives who are working in organizations to refer our candidature to the suitable available posts. They can forward the profile to their HR department and that department will take it further if any vacancies are available.
