Established in 1869, St. Xavier's College (SXC) is well-known as an academic institution of excellence. It has achieved the top rank among private autonomous colleges in India in the 2020-21 Education World Higher Education Ranking list. The college offers degree programs in Arts, Commerce, and Science streams at the undergraduate level, and Arts and Science at the postgraduate level. Campus infrastructure

Campus infrastructure at St. Xavier's College, Mumbai includes the library with its vast resources in both print and electronic form, and the computer center known as the Xavier Knowledge Centre houses five computer labs. Bachelor of Accounting & Finance (BAF)

About the Course: This is a 3-year undergraduate program affiliated with the University of Mumbai. The course will develop your ability to manage the entire accounting system of an organization and make financial decisions in line with the company's policies and goals. With an awareness of the changing trends in commerce and business, the curriculum provides academic lessons that are updated to create successful professionals in the field of accounting and finance, as also practical learning through interactions with industry experts in the field.

What you will learn: All financial and accountancy aspects of a business, including the application of Information Technology in these fields, Macroeconomics, Cost Accounting and Auditing, managing a portfolio, understanding business, and commercial laws and the policies of RBI and SEBI, entrepreneurship development, etc.

M.A. Economics

This 2-year full-time program offered by the Department of Economics is affiliated with the University of Mumbai. The course sessions are mainly evening sessions for the convenience of working professionals, and some parts of the course may be conducted online. Fieldwork and an internship are also part of the program. The Department has its own research center for agriculture and rural studies that was set up with sponsorship under the Rashtriya Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan (RUSA) scheme. You will thus get an opportunity to work on research projects at this center.

What you will learn: Since Urban and Rural Development Strategic Planning is the specialization of this PG program, you are not only acquiring knowledge about economic theoretical aspects and details about government policies but also understanding how these are implemented in rural and urban areas. In doing so, you will be covering problems related to infrastructure, environmental challenges, and the like, and how to effectively face the financial developments associated with them. Smart cities and smart villages will be included as well when learning about such challenges.

Postgraduate Diploma in Tourism Management

About the course: This is a one-year course for which there are 30 seats. Students are enrolled on the basis of merit and a personal interview. Academic classroom lectures are supported by field visits, practicals, and project training as per feasibility. Assistance is provided for the internship that is mandatory in the second semester. The classes are conducted on a daily basis from Monday to Friday between 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., while Saturday is reserved for field visits or projects as applicable.



What you will learn: In Semester 1 you will learn the fundamental aspects of tourism management, how to plan an itinerary, management of meetings, conferences, and the like, and working on a theme-based project. The modules in Semester 2 include managing the operational aspects, and developing skills as a tourist guide and manager, working on sustainable tourism, the marketing aspects to promote tourism, and a project. All students must mandatorily enroll for an internship as well during this semester.

Who can apply: Graduates from any stream.

Course Fees: Rs. 80,000/- + 18% GST.

Intellectual Property Rights Certificate/Diploma Course

This course is an online one that is conducted twice a week in the mornings. You can confirm the days and timings from the college website. There are 15 seats for the certificate course, and 15 seats for the Diploma program. A reputed law firm is an industry partner for this course. The career scope is vast, sine all organizations and businesses are keen to protect the copyrights of their products, brand names, unique services, registration of patents, etc. You can thus get a job in any field, be it telecommunications, hospitality, education, etc, and could even get opportunities with legal firms.

For the Diploma, you can opt for either (i) a Diploma in Patents or (ii) a Diploma in Copyrights (Media & Entertainment). For the Certificate course, you are required to complete at least 30 credits and on the completion of the three modules, you can select a specialization out of the two aforementioned Diploma courses. The Diploma has 60 credits, and you are required to complete a minimum of 48 credits.



What you will learn: On the formal side of academics, you study the basic and advanced concepts of intellectual property rights, legal aspects, etc. On the practical side, you will get training in the professional skills required to solve various problems that rise up in the field and use the data collected to solve them.

Course fee: For the Certificate course the fee is Rs.30,000/- and for the Diploma course the fee is Rs.50,000/-.
