Eligibility requirements

You need to fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria in order to be permitted to appear for CAT-2022. Note, though, that appearing for the test does not provide any guarantee that you will get admission to an IIM. You will be required to fulfill the IIM's eligibility requirements as well in order to be shortlisted for admission to that specific IIM.

Educational Qualification

: You should have a Bachelor's Degree, with a minimum of 50% marks or equivalent CGPA (at least 45% is the requirement for candidates applying in the categories of Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, and Persons with Disability) from a UGC-recognized University or educational institution or any equivalent qualification that is recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India. If you are appearing for the final year of your Bachelor's degree course (or any recognized equivalent qualification exam) and have also completed all the degree requirements and are awaiting results, then you are eligible to register for CAT-2022. In this case, however, once you are selected for admission at an IIM, you can join the course at the IIM only on a provisional basis after you submit a certificate from the Principal or the Registrar of the University/Institution where you are studying, stating that you have completed all the requirements for obtaining the degree/equivalent qualification on the date of issue of the certificate. It is mandatory to then submit the qualifying degree/equivalent mark sheet and certificate before the date specified by the IIM, otherwise, your provisional admission will be cancelled.

In the case of those candidates having a professional qualification, those who have completed a professional degree, such as CA or CS or ICWA (with the afore-mentioned min.) or ICWA/Fellow of the Institute of Actuaries of India (FIAI)) with min. 50% (SC/ST/PwD candidates should have a minimum of 45%).

Work experience

: While experience is not mentioned as a mandatory criterion to appear for CAT-2022, it should be noted that an IIM may give weightage to relevant work experience that is not part of an internship or project work associated with academics. Hence, don't forget to mention this during the online application process.
