Significant features of JNV schools

Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas have been established in all States in India (other than Tamil Nadu). Currently, there are 650 JNVs in 27 States and 8 Union Territories. The quality of education offered at JNVs is reflected in the superb academic results, including in prestigious competitive exams, such as NEET, JEE-Main, and JEE-Advanced.

All JNVs are residential schools under the management of the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti, which is an autonomous organization under the aegis of the Under Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. Each school's campus provides separate hostel accommodation for boys and girls and has academic and other required facilities. Students are also involved in co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. These include NSS, Scouts & Guides, yoga sessions, outdoor sports, indoor games, etc. Cultural programs are scheduled, value education is imparted, and educational trips and adventure activities are organized. National integration is encouraged through a unique cultural-exchange migration scheme, with students moving from a Hindi to a non-Hindi-speaking State and vice-versa to study for a year at a JNV in that State.

JNV School fees

A student getting admission from Class IX onwards has to pay a monthly fee of Rs. 600/- per month towards Vidyalaya Vikas Nidhi. However, if you belong to a reserved category of SC or ST, you do not have to pay this fee. Girl students and those whose family income is below the poverty line (BPL category) are also exempted. Parents who are Govt. Employees are required to pay Rs.1500/- each month per student or the actual children's education allowance received, whichever is less.
