National Institute of Technology Warangal was established in 1959 as a public technical university by the Government of India and is a well-known Institute of National Importance. The institute is accredited by NAAC and also ranked by NIRF 2021 in Engineering. It offers undergraduate, postgraduate, and doctoral programs. There are thirteen types of student categories for admission to the Ph.D. program. Details of major categories are as follows-
Full-time: These students will be full-time and regular students at the institute. They will be referred to as institute fellows or research fellows. The Institute Fellow will get a fellowship from the institute while the Research Fellow will receive funding support from recognized funding agencies such as CSIR, UGC, DBT, NBHM, DST, etc.
Sponsored and Full time: In this category, Candidates who are already in regular employment with experience can join. They must have obtained sponsorship from any academic institution, R&D organization, govt organization, and any other organization. Full Ph.D. students will work full-time in the institute to obtain the degree for 3 years. No financial support will be provided by the institute to such students. Self-financed students will also work full-time at the institute but will not receive any assistantship/funding/fellowship from the institute.
Part-time: In this category, the candidates who are professionally employed in an institute including NIT Warangal staff can also join the Ph.D. program with the continuation of duties of his/her service. However, they will not be eligible for any assistantship or financial support from the institute. They will have to reside at the Institute for a minimum period of one or two semesters based on the mandatory coursework for a Ph.D. Permanent faculty of educational institutions fully funded by the government or maintained by a public-private partnership model can also join.Reservation Policy
Reservation will be there for the candidates belonging to the SC, ST, OBC, and EWS categories and for Persons with Disabilities (PwD) as per the Government of India norms. OBC (Non-creamy layer) candidates will have to submit a certificate and self-declaration statement provided with the application form.Eligibility criteria
Candidates should have a Master's Degree with a minimum of 55% marks or 6.25 CGPA in the respective discipline. The candidates who have a valid score in CSIR/NET/GATE/SETS are exempted from appearing in the eligibility test.
Engineering department: The candidates must have MTech or BTech (with GATE) in relevant engineering subjects. The candidates must have MTech or BTech (with GATE) in relevant engineering subjects.
Science Departments: The candidate must have a master's degree in the relevant discipline of Science (Mathematics/ Physics/ Chemistry)/B.Tech or equivalent degree/ M.Tech or equivalent degree. All candidates must have qualified in GATE/UGC/CSIR/INSPIRE/NET (not a compulsion part-time scholars).
Humanities: The candidate must have a master's degree in the relevant discipline of English.

The candidates who wish to join the Ph.D. program must visit the official website of NIT Warangaland read the instructions given in the official advertisement carefully before applying. To apply online the candidate must submit their application through the online application portal.
For registration, candidates need to provide their full name, date of birth, email address, and mobile number. After registration, the candidate must log in using login credentials to fill out the online application form. ExaminationsSelection Procedure
Selection of the students for the Ph.D. program will be done based on performance in the written test and interviews. Apart from this, academic records, qualifications, and candidates' research interests as per available research areas will also be taken into consideration at the time of selection of suitable candidates. Thus, a thorough evaluation process will be followed for the final selection of the candidates. Important dates
