Eligibility Criteria

IIMA provides a comprehensive fellowship that includes all academic expenses like tuition, computer, library, medical insurance, placement, and alumni fees, and in addition, includes a monthly subsistence allowance. The details of the monthly subsistence allowance are as follows-
Slab I: For the first and second years: Rs.37,700/-
Slab II: After successful completion of Area Comprehensive Examination: Rs.40,700/-
Slab III: After submitting the TAC-approved thesis proposal: Rs.45,200/-
All students will get a contingency allowance of Rs. 25,000 per year (for five years) to cover research fees, book costs, photocopying, etc. Eligible students will receive up to Rs. 1,75,000/- for attending an international conference/workshop/summer school during the first five years of their PhD. Admission seekers must visit official website of IIM Ahmedabad and read the advertisement of the institute carefully. Applications are to be submitted online. Candidates will receive a unique application number after application submission.
After submission of the online application, candidates must download the computer-generated copy and get it printed, and send the signed hard copy along with the application fee submission receipt and other documents to IIM Ahmedabad. Candidates must submit their application form, along with all required documents. Candidates who wish to apply in more than one department must submit a separate application for each. The form can be filled in online. The application fee of Rs. 500/- can be paid through the IIMA payment gateway. Candidates have to attach copies of academic certificates/testimonials and qualifying examination score card along with the application. The qualifying exams are Scores on standardized tests ( CAT / GATE / UGC JRF / GMAT / GRE / ICAR-SRF. Candidates may submit applications for a maximum of two areas of high levels of specialization using the online application.

Selection procedure
Candidates will be shortlisted based on their performance in the CAT exam or a standard test instead of CAT, academic background, and experience. Shortlisted candidates will be called for personal interviews. For NRIs and Foreign students, this standard test is the Graduate Management Aptitude Test (GMAT). Those candidates who have Scored in CAT 2020, 2021and 2022 would be eligible for application to the PhD Program in 2022. Areas of high levels of specialization of IIMA specify different standardized tests that candidates applying to the Ph.D. Programs in their areas can take instead of CAT. The Ph.D. admission interviews will be held from March-April 2023. IIMA may conduct online or face-to-face interviews depending upon the health advisory issued by the authority at that time.Important Dates
