About IIITNR
Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee International Institute of Information Technology, Naya Raipur is a joint initiative of the Chhattisgarh State Government and the National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC). The college offers various undergraduate, post-graduate and doctoral programs like B.Tech, M.Tech, Ph.D and Research. Also, for the students, it provides excellent amenities for sports and other activities and facilities like hostel, canteen, sports, gym, e-class room, amphitheater, auditorium, etc.
There are different categories for Ph.D admission as follows:-
Institute Scholar: Candidate who wish to joins Ph.D. at IIIT Naya Raipur under this category gets financial assistantship from the Institute.
Individual fellowship: Candidate who receive research fellowship from some recognized funding agency (CSIR/ UGC/ DAE/ NBHM/ DST/ DBT/ ICAR/ ICMR/ ICPR etc.) is eligible for admission under this category. The admission requirements will be same as that of the Institute Scholars.
Sponsored Category: An applicant of this category is sponsored by his/her employer. The sponsoring organization must specifically undertake to relieve the applicant to enable residential requirements of the Ph.D. program and also provide necessary facilities for carrying out the research. The Sponsoring organization shall bear all expenses towards Institute fees, hostel fees, and any other expenses during the entire period of the Ph.D. program. Those under this category shall work full-time towards the Ph.D. program. No financial support from IIIT Naya Raipur is admissible.
Project staff: Students who are working on a sponsored project at IIIT Naya Raipur, are also eligible to apply for admission in the Ph.D programme as full-time or part-time students. However, their remaining project duration should be at least one year at the time of admission. After completion of the project, their category will be converted to a self-financed Category.
On deputation: In this category those applicant who is deputed from Government or academic institutions on study leave for a period not less than three years for pursuing Ph.D. program at the Institute. No financial support from IIIT Naya Raipur is admissible.
Eligibility criteria
Ph.D in Engineering
To be eligible for admission in PhD Engineering, the candidates must satisfy any of the eligibility criteria:
The candidates must a degree in M.Tech or ME in Engineering/Technology. They must have scored at least a CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks.
The candidates who have BE or B.Tech from the institute other than IITs must have scored a minimum CPI of 8.0 or 75% of marks.
The candidates having a Bachelor's degree from any Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 7.0.
The candidates having a Master's degree in Science in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70%.
Ph.D in Science
The candidates who wish to get admission in PhD Science must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
The candidate must have an M.Phil or MSc or ME or M.Tech degree in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% of marks with valid GATE score.
The candidates who have BE or B.Tech from the institute other than IITs/IISc must have scored a minimum CPI of 8.0 or 75% of marks.
The candidates having a Bachelor's degree from any Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 7.0.
PhD in Humanities
The candidates who wish to get admission in PhD Programme in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences (HSS) must fulfil the following eligibility criteria:
The candidates must have an M.Phil or Master's degree in Arts/Commerce/Science in a relevant area with at least 55% marks or equivalent.
He/she must have ME or M.Tech or M.Des. in a relevant area with a minimum CPI of 6.5 or 60% marks
The candidates who have BE or B.Tech from the institute other than IITs/IISc must have scored a minimum CPI of 7.5 or 70% of marks.
The candidates having a Bachelor's degree from any Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) with a minimum CPI of 7.0.Candidates should have a valid score in UGC-NET/ CSIR-NET/GATE.
M.S. (R) Program
Candidate should have B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent degree in an appropriate discipline with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale),or master of Science or equivalent degree in an appropriate discipline with minimum 60% marks or 6.5 CGPA (in a 10-point scale),and minimum 55% marks or 6.0 CGPA (in a 10-point scale) in Bachelor of Science or equivalent degree, from a recognized University/Institution.
Relaxation will be given as per government norms for SC/ST/PwD candidates.
Candidate having B.Tech. from IITs/NITs/IIITs with a CGPA greater than or equal to 8.0 will be eligible for direct admission into M.S.(R) program without interview provided they are already associated with a sponsored project/scheme of the Institute.
The maximum age limit of applicant should be below 35 years on the first of July of the autumn semester.
Application Process
The candidates who wish to join the Ph.D. program must visit the official website of IlIT Naya Raipur and read the instructions given in the official advertisement carefully before applying. To apply online the candidate must submit their application through the online application portal.
For registration, candidates need to provide their full name, date of birth, email address, and mobile number. After registration, the candidate must log in using login credentials to fill out the online application form. After completion of filling the application, the applicant will be directed to the payment gateway. Once the payment is done successfully, the applicant will be asked to confirm the final submission of the application. After the final submission, an acknowledgement of payment along with the copy of the application will be provided for future reference.
The applicant has to carry the print out of this application along with all the attachments and their originals during the written test/interview. The applicant has to register separately (the same email id can be used) to apply for multiple disciplines and payment also to be made separately.
Application Fee
An application fee of Rs.500/- is required to be paid. The application fee once paid will not be refunded. Payment of application can be done through online mode only using payment gateway.

Selection procedure
Selection will be done based on the performance of the candidates in the written test and/or interview and/or performance in the nationwide level tests depending on the application received. Initial screening of the students will be done based on their overall academic performance. Shortlisting of the candidate will be done and a merit list will be prepared based on the screening test.
Note : Candidates applying under Institute scholar category should have GATE/UGC/CSIR/CSIR NET/DST/INSPIRE/DBT/NBHM or any other examination recognized
