About university

Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University, also known as Andhra Pradesh Horticultural University, is a state university located at Venkataramannagudem, near Tadepalligudem in West Godavari district, Andhra Pradesh, India. It was established in 2007 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh and focuses on education and research of horticultural science. Currently, Dr. Y.S.R. Horticultural University is inviting applications for admission to the M.SC & Ph.D. programs for the academic session 2022-2023.

Eligibility Criteria

The upper age limit is 40 years as of 1st July of the year of admission.

The Candidates should have passed the relevant 4 years Bachelor's Degree examination i.e., B.Sc.(Hort.)/B.Sc.(Hons.) Horticulture is specified against each course from the Dr.Y.S.R. Horticultural University or from State Horticulture/Agriculture University (SAU) or Central Agricultural University (CAU). Candidates passed out from private Horticultural Universities/Colleges not accredited by ICAR will not be considered for admission.

For admission into Masters courses, in the qualifying examination, the candidates should have
secured a minimum OGPA of 6.60/10.00 (SC/ST – 5.60/10.00) or 2.60/4.00 (SC/ST- 2.20/4.00) or 60% marks in the traditional system (SC/ST – 50%).

For Ph.D. admission the minimum OGPA in the Master's Programme should be 6.50/10.00 from ICAR Accredited Universities.

Reservation of seats

There will be a 15% reservation in seats for SC, 6%for ST, and 29% for BC candidates. Apart from this, 10% of seats ( over and above)are reserved for the EWS category in each degree/discipline. 33% of seats will be reserved for women candidates and 3% of seats in the course are reserved for Physically Challenged Candidates as per the Government norms.

Application Procedure

Interested and eligible candidates are requested to download the application form from the official website of Dr.Y.S.R. Horticulture university. Candidates need to pay the non-refundable application fee. The filled-in application (downloaded form) along with attested photocopies of enclosures should reach the following address on or before 31-12-2022. On top of the envelope, it should be marked as"Application for admission into Masters / Ph.D. program 2022-23".

Application Fee

The application fee for General & BC category candidates are Rs.500(Rupees Five hundred only) and Rs.1000/- respectively for M.Sc.(Hort.) and Ph.D.(Hort.). For SC/ST/PHC category candidates is Rs.250/- and Rs.500/- respectively for M.Sc.(Hort.) and Ph.D.(Hort.).

Selection procedure

Selection will be done based on scored marks on the entrance exam. As per ICAR-AIEEA rules, the candidate who qualified and secured rank in ICAR AIEEA (PG)-2022 and ICAR AICE JRF/SRF (Ph.D.) – 2022 are eligible for admission into Masters Degree and Ph.D. Degree respectively.
