Since the advent of online book publishing there arose a need for professionals who could work in book publishing companies or start their own publishing houses carrying out various tasks related to book publishing ranging from formatting to designing book layouts, and covers, and creating aesthetic appeals. A book publishing course teaches the aspirants about all these aspects related to book publishing. These courses are generally short-term courses leading to a certificate or diploma in this particular skill.
Many online agencies like NBT, Coursera, Udemy, IGNOU, Skillshare, Alison, IngramSpark Academy, Reedsy, CUH, and many more offer various courses related to book publishing. Many authors take the help of these professionals for formatting and presenting their books in a nice get-up form and pay for it. At the same time, some authors who are well aware of book publishing techniques can prepare the cover of the book themselves and format their book in the desired form and publish it from some online book publishing site without any external help. That type of activity is commonly known as self-publishing.Course offered by NBT
NBT's three months certificate course in book publishing is an online one, and the medium of instruction is in English. It will be conducted online from 21st January to 30th April 2023 every Saturday and Sunday. Timings will be from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM. Every student will get a total of 56 sessions of 2 hours each. Professionals and experts from the publishing industry will be conducting this course. Project work will be included in the course. After completion of this three-month course, the candidate will have to go for an internship in any publishing house anywhere in the country.
The internship is to be done during April and May 2023. The details of internship work are to be submitted by 31st May 2023 to NBT. After receiving the internship details, NBT will do the assessment based on the performance of the candidate and award the certificate to successful candidates.Eligibility
The candidate should be having at least a graduation degree for applying for admission in this course. The candidate will also have to mention a statement of purpose and proof in the application form for one's inclination to the field of book publishing.Course Fee
The course fee is Rs. 5900 (including GST) per candidate. Payment of the course fee should be made online to the bank account mentioned in the official notification. The candidates may note that only online payment is accepted.How to apply
