The National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences (NBEMS) has issued the notification for candidates to register for the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-MDS 2023. The validity of the result of NEET-MDS 2023 shall be only for the admission session 2023-24.

The National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET)-MDS 2023 is a mandatory eligibility-cum-ranking exam for all candidates seeking admission to the Master in Dental Surgery (MDS) 2023 academic session for all Dental Post Graduate courses in India. If you appear for any other exam either at the institutional level or at the State level, you will not be eligible for admission to any MDS course. You must register and appear only for NBEMS NEET-MDS 2023. Furthermore, you are allowed to submit the NEET-MDS 2023 application form only once. In case it is found that you have submitted more than one application, then you will not be allowed to appear for NEET-MDS 2023 and appropriate action may be taken by NBEMS.
Foreign nationals are also welcome to appear for the exam but must get security clearance from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt. of India.
Candidates who successfully qualify the NEET-MDS exam can seek admission to MDS courses for the admission session 2023-24 which will include- (i) The all-India 50% quota MDS seats for all States/Union territories of India. (ii) The State quota seats for all States/Union territories of India. (iii) Any MDS course that is offered at all private Dental Colleges, institutions, and Universities in India. (iv) An MDS course at Armed Forces Medical Services Institutions. (v) The screening exam for dental surgeons (for both, BDS and MDS) for Short Service Commission in Army Dental Corps.
On qualifying through NEET-MDS 2023, you are also required to fulfill the admission criteria, eligibility, medical fitness, and requirements that may be prescribed by the respective universities, medical/dental institutions, the Dental Council of India, and the State/Central Government. NBEMS is in no way associated with the counseling and allotment of MDS seats. The document verification and other eligibility criteria for the course will be undertaken at the time of counseling/admission process of the specific institution.
Candidates should be aware that AIIMS, New Delhi is not covered by centralized admissions for the 2023 MDS seats through NEET-MDS 2023. NEET-MDS 2023 Exam Fee
Candidates appearing for NEET-MDS 2023 in the General, OBC and EWS categories have to pay an exam fee of Rs. 4250/-, and those appearing in the SC, ST, PWD categories have to pay an exam fee of Rs. 3250/- (payment gateways charges will be as applicable). This fee can be paid only with a Credit Card or with a Debit Card issued by banks in India or through other modes as may be made available on the web page at the time of online payment.NEET-MDS 2023 Eligibility requirements
If you are keen to get admission to the Master in Dental Surgery (MDS) program, then must fulfill the below-mentioned eligibility criteria.
Graduate Qualification: You need to have a recognised degree of Bachelor in Dental Surgery awarded by a university or institute in India and should be registered with the State Dental Council.
Medical Registration and Internship: Additionally, you should have obtained provisional or permanent registration as well as completed a compulsory rotatory internship of a year in an approved/recognised dental college.
In case after passing the final qualifying exam (B.D.S. or the foreign dental degree recognized by thhe Govt. of India/DCI), you are undergoing the 12-month compulsory rotatory internship/ practical training and will likely complete the same by 31st March 2023, then also you are eligible to appear for the NEET-MDS 2023 exam. However, this is subject to completing it on or before 31st March 2023, and fulfilment of eligibility criteria as prescribed in the NEET information bulletin. You cannot appear for NEET-MDS 2023 if you complete the internship after 31st March 2023. You can check the bulletin to know about the condonation of the internship of the 12-month period.
Also, those seeking admission to the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS) training institutes, namely (1) Armed Forces Medical College, Pune and (2) Army Dental Centre, Army Hospital (Research & Referral), Delhi Cantt. should check page 78 of the information bulletin to know the categories in order of precedence under which the candidates will be considered for admission. Registration is mandatory to appear for NEET-MDS 2023. The registration and application should be done in online mode only at https://cdn3.digialm.com/EForms/configuredHtml/1815/79418/Index.html
Before applying, ensure that you read the Information bulletin for NEET-MDS 2023 and follow the instructions that are provided for filling up the online application form. It is important to provide all details correctly. The name, nationality, mobile number, email ID, and choice of city for the entrance test are details that cannot be changed once the application is submitted.
The tentative list of cities where NEET-MDS 2023 will be conducted is available in the official information bulletin. The test city can be selected from available choices on a first come first serve basis, but the allotment of the test centre/venue in the chosen city shall be done by NBEMS. You will be informed regarding their test venue through the Admit Card.NEET-MDS 2023 Exam Format
The NEET-MDS 2023 is a Computer Based Test (CBT) of three hours from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. Make sure that you report to the centre early, preferably at least two hours prior to the start of the exam. Candidates will be allowed to enter the exam test center at 7 a.m. noon when the registration process at the center will start. Entry to the test center will close at 8.30 a.m. sharp. Candidates will get access to log in for the test at 8.45 a.m. and to read the instructions at 8.50 a.m.
The syllabus for the three-hour exam will be similar to the one for B.D.S. and incorporates all the subjects/syllabus taught during the BDS course as prescribed by DCI. The test will have 240 multiple-choice questions, to which a single response has to be given in English only. Each correct answer will be given 4 marks, and an incorrect answer will get a deduction of one mark. An answer which is not attempted will get zero marks.

Note that no re-evaluation will be done, and you cannot request re-evaluation/retotaling. NEET-MDS 2023 Admit Card requirements
You must take your Admit Card to the test center, otherwise, you will not be allowed to appear for NEET-MDS 2023. You have to report at the test center as per the time indicated in your Admit Card because staggered time slots will be allotted to all candidates to avoid crowding.
How to get the NEET-MDS 2023 Admit Card: You must log in at the official website through your registered account and download the Admit Card, which will be available from 22nd February 2023. The Admit card will not be sent to you by postal mail or email. Once you download it, you must paste a recent passport-size colour photo (on a white background) that is not more than 3 months old in the space provided on the admit card. The photo should be on a high-quality paper with at least 600 dpi resolution. The size of the photo should be a minimum 35x45 mm and should not be larger than the box printed on the admit card that has been kept for the photo. Ensure that at least 75% area on the photo shows the face & head. Do not wear any cap, goggles, ornaments, etc. The face should be very clear with a neutral expression.
At the Test center Finger biometrics and capturing of the face will be done at the centre at the time of registration, at each bio break of the test.
In addition to the Admit Card, you need to bring an authorized valid photo ID, which must be original and should not have expired. This can be the PAN Card or Voter ID card or Driving License or Passport or Aadhar Card (original with photo). Make sure that the photo on the ID card is clear and that the name on the ID matches exactly with the name as shown on the Admit Card. An e-Aadhaar Card with Aadhaar number printed on it is also permitted, but it must be a good quality colour print-out with a clearly visible photo.
You must wear a face mask and follow all protocols as per the requirements of the Covid-19 scenario. Note that stationery items, ornaments (including rings), caps, goggles, and electronic devices of all types (including wristwatches and health bands) are strictly not permitted. The submission of online applications for NEET-MDS 2023 begins on 9th January 2023, 7 p.m. onwards.
The closing date to submit the online applications for NEET-MDS 2023 is 30th January 2023 up to 11.55 p.m.
Editing can be done from 2nd February 2023 to 5th February 2023. Only information/documents can be changed/corrected other than the name, the test city, the nationality, the mobile number, and the email ID. A new application cannot be registered nor any payment can be made during this edit window period.
The final edit window to rectify deficient/incorrect images of photos, and signature/thumb impressions will be open for a short while from 10th February 2023 to 13th February 2023.
A Demo Test to enable you to be familiar with the Computer Based Test format will be accessible on the website https://nbe.edu.in from 20th February 2023 onwards (tentative date).
The NEET-MDS 2023 Admit Card will be issued through the official website from 22nd February 2023 onwards. However, the Admit Card shall not be issued if you are declared ineligible before the conduct of the exam and in such a case, the entire fee will be forfeited.
The date of NEET-MDS 2023 exam is 1st March 2023.
The result of NEET-MDS 2023 will be declared by 31st March 2023.
