About IIM Raipur
Indian Institute of Management Raipur is an institution of national importance located in the capital city of Raipur in the Indian state of Chattisgarh. Inaugurated in the year 2010, it is the tenth IIM to be established by the Government of India. The campus of IIM Raipur is 200 acres big and has the most modern facilities. With world-class sports facilities and state-of-the-art infrastructure for its classrooms, auditoriums, seminar halls, library and single occupancy hostel rooms, IIM-RR, a popular acronym for this great institute, is one of the top new IIMs in the country. It ranks highly amongst all business schools in India. As in other IIMs, the institute has been offering a number of postgraduate programs, a few of which are part-time and meant exclusively for executives and working professionals. The PhD program being offered by the institute is a full-time course, the eligibility criteria and details of which are described below.
About the PhD program
The 2023 batch will be the 11th PhD batch at IIM Raipur. The specializations being offered for the same are as follows.
Irrespective of the specialization they seek for their PhD, candidates from any educational background, be it humanities, physical sciences, social sciences, engineering, etc. can apply. The selection of the candidates will be however on the basis of their past academic performances, entrance test scores and personal interview (PI). The PI will be conducted by IIM Raipur after initial shortlisting.Eligibility criteria
One of the following educational qualifications is to be fulfilled by the applicant for applying for the PhD program. The qualifications obtained should be from any of the recognised universities in India, either by the UGC, HRD Ministry or approved by the AICTE.
It is to be noted by the prospective candidates that fulfilling just one criterion among the above four will do. Also, beginning from class 10 till their last qualification, they should be having first-class marks throughout. For SC, ST and PwD candidates there is a relaxation of 5% in aggregate marks or points as the case may be.
Students in the final year of their studies and appearing for their final exams may also apply. If successfully admitted to the program, their admission will be, however, provisional till they submit their final mark scripts/ degree. In any case, they have to submit the relevant documents by 30 June 2023.
Foreign nationals, including non-resident Indians (NRIs) and persons of Indian origin (PIO) may also apply for the program if having the required qualifications.Age limit

The candidates are shortlisted for personal interviews based on several criteria. This includes class 10 marks, class 12 marks, graduation/postgraduation marks, and common admission test scores. The candidates have the flexibility to appear either for the Common Admission Test (CAT) conducted by the IIMs or other national-level eligibility tests like GATE, GRE, GMAT, JRF (UGC/CSIR) and UGC-NET. Based on the test score and their past academic records, candidates will be shortlisted and called for an interview. It is to be noted that the test scores should not be more than 2 years old from the start of the program, i.e. for admissions to the 2023 PhD program, the test should not have been given earlier than 01st July 2021.
The final selection of the candidates for the program will be based on their performance in the personal interview and their academic qualifications. The weightage of each component is broken down below.
Exemption from appearing for CAT/eligibility test
Candidates who have done their 2-year postgraduate programs in any of the IIMs in the last ten years and have more than 6 CGPA out of a scale of 10 are exempted from appearing for CAT or any of the above eligibility tests.Important dates
How to apply
The application for the program is to be done online by visiting the PhD admission page at the official website of IIM Raipur. The online application form is to be filled in with all the relevant details, including, the preferred area of specialization. A candidate can submit applications for at most two areas of specialization. The candidates also need to send scanned copies of supporting documents, details of which are enumerated below. An application fee of Rs 1000 per area of specialization is to be paid online during the application process. For SC, ST, OBC(NCL), EWS and PwD candidates the fee is Rs 500 per specialization. After the online submission of the application form and online payment of application fees, the filled-in application form and fee receipt are to be downloaded and send along with copies of supporting documents to the admissions office at IIM Raipur by speed post on or before 05th March 2023. In case the transcripts or mark sheets are in a language other than Hindi or English, then the necessary certified translations also need to be submitted.No-objection certificate
Candidates who are presently employed need to submit a no-objection certificate (NOC) from their employer. The NOC has to be submitted at the time of admission and not during the application process.For queries
