About the institute

IIM Nagpur or Indian Institute of Management Nagpur, also nicknamed IIMN, is one of the renowned business schools in India. Established in 2015 by the Central Government, it is one of the six next-generation IIMs in India. It has a 132-acre campus at Nagpur in Maharastra with state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities. Among the different postgraduate programs being offered by the institute are MBA, Executive MBA, Ph.D., and Ph.D. (Executive). The institute also has a satellite campus in Pune that offers the Executive MBA program for working professionals.



About the MBA program

The Master of Business Administration (MBA) is a two-year full-time residential program offered by the institute. The flagship program is also called Post Graduate Program in Management (PGP). There are a total of 240 seats for the program. The institute provides seat reservations to candidates belonging to the eligible categories based on government guidelines on the reservation of seats in higher educational institutions. The category-wise breakdown of seats is - SC 15%, ST 7%, OBC-NCL 27%, EWS 10% and a horizontal reservation of 5% across categories for the physically disabled candidates.

Eligibility criteria

  1. Bachelors degree in any discipline from a recognised university.

  2. A valid CAT 2022 score. The category-wise cut-off or minimum CAT 2022 percentile can be referred to below.

It is to be noted that only those who have a CAT 2022 score above the cut-off percentile as per their respective categories will be shortlisted by the institute for the next stage of the selection process.

Selection process

The selection process at IIMN is a three-stage process.

Stage 1:
In the first stage, candidates are shortlisted based on their CAT 2022 score. As is given in the above table, the cut-off varies for different categories of students. Those with CAT scores above their respective category cut-offs will receive a communication from the institute for being shortlisted for the next stage. The candidates then need to submit a detailed application within the stipulated date, whereby all the necessary details including, copies of mark sheets, degree certificates, work experience certificates, and category certificates to be submitted at the online application portal of IIM Nagpur.

Stage 2:
In the second stage, The candidates will be further shortlisted based on their CAT scores and Gender Diversity factor. For female and transgender candidates the gender diversity score is 10 out of 10, whereas for males it is 0. Based on this shortlist, eligible candidates will be called for a personal interview (PI) to be held at the institute. The shortlisted candidates will be receiving a communication or an email from IIM Nagpur in this regard.

Stage 3:
The above-shortlisted candidates will be appearing for the personal interview and the final selection of the candidates will be based on a number of factors. The weightage of each factor is given below.

  1. CAT score - 50%
  2. Personal interview - 25%
  3. Past academic performance - 5%
  4. Work experience - 10%
  5. Gender diversity - 10%

For work experience, full-time paid experience after graduation will only be counted. Internships and work experience before graduation won't get considered. As in stage 2 of shortlisting, female and transgender candidates get a score of 10 out of 10, and male candidates zero in the gender diversity factor.

Admission process

Candidates selected after stage 3 of the selection process receive a provisional offer for admission through email. They have to confirm their acceptance by paying an offer acceptance fee of Rs 75,000. The offer acceptance fee is later adjusted towards the term fee during term 1 registration.

  • Call letters for interview - 02nd week of March 2023

  • Interview process - Middle of March to the middle of April 2023

  • Admission offers to be sent by - Middle of April 2023

  • Registration and course commencement - June/July 2023

How to apply

To apply for the above MBA program, the applicants have to visit the official website of IIM Nagpur. The application process is online and the link for the same is given on the program page. Those with CAT scores above the cut-off to apply well in time, so as to apply for the 2nd stage of the application process by 03 March 2023. In the initial stage of the application, mainly the CAT score is to be submitted. All those above the cut-off percentile will be eligible for the 2nd stage and will be receiving an email from the mail ID pgpintimation@iimnagpur.ac.in. Acknowledgment emails will be sent from admissions-do-not-reply@iimnagpur.ac.in. The detailed application form along with copies of relevant documents are to be submitted in the 2nd stage only.
