IIT Madras Summer Fellowship Programme 2023

Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IITM), the premier engineering institute in the country, is inviting applications from willing candidates for its Summer Fellowship Programme. It is a two-month program that is likely to commence on 22 May 2023 and end on 21 July 2023. The dates are somewhat flexible to allow for the convenience of the participating students. The fellowship is a paid one, where the students earn a monthly stipend.
Program objective
The objective of the program is to get participating students aware and interested in high-end academic research. Also, the students get the opportunity to participate in mini-projects at this world-renowned institute.Eligibility criteria
The following categories of students are eligible for the program.
It is desirable that the candidates should have an exceptional academic background. They should preferably be amongst the top rankers in their university examinations. For those, who have presented research papers at seminars, been part of projects, scored high ranks in math olympiads and other national-level exams or participated in design contests, it will be an added advantage. Selection of the candidates for the fellowship will be mainly based on the above criteria.
Students who are already studying in any of the IITs are not eligible to apply.Departments offering fellowship

A stipend of Rs 6,000 per month will be paid to the participating students for a period of two months.Last date for applying

For applying for the IITM Summer Fellowship Program the students should visit the IIT Madras website page for the summer fellowship program. Before applying, however, they should be in possession of a bonafide letter obtained from the Head of Institution of their respective institute or university. The formats for the bonafide for both undergraduate and postgraduate students are given on the program page as referred to above.
With their bonafide certificate ready, the candidates can then register themselves by creating a new account. Once they log in they need to fill up two forms, one of them dealing with personal details and the other one with academic details. After the above two forms, the candidates then need to upload a recent passport-size photograph of themselves, the bonafide certificate, academic certificates and PwD category certificate for applicable candidates. The academic certificates should include class 10, 12, and undergraduate mark sheets in a single pdf file.
Once the files are all uploaded and the forms filled, the candidates to submit the application. At this stage, they will get the opportunity to choose the department of their choice from the given list.
