Maharashtra M.Ed. Course Common Entrance Test 2023 online applications open


Want to take admission to an M.Ed. Degree course in Maharashtra? This article provides complete details of the Common Entrance Test (CET) for which you need to appear in order to get admission to a professional Postgraduate Degree course in Education leading to an M.Ed. Degree in a college/university in the State of Maharashtra. Details of the eligibility criteria, the MAH-M.Ed. CET syllabus, online application procedure, etc have been provided in this article.

The State Common Entrance Test Cell, Mumbai Govt. of Maharashtra has released the notification for the Common Entrance Test (CET) for admission to the first year of the 2-year full-time professional Postgraduate Degree course in Education leading to M.Ed. Degree for the academic year 2023-2024.

Based on the scores obtained in the CET, and on fulfilling all the other eligibility criteria, you can seek admission to the M.Ed. course in the Govt. College of Education, any Govt.-aided college (including an aided minority institute), all University Departments, all University-managed institutes, all un-aided colleges (including a minority institute), and self-financed Govt., and Govt.-aided institutions offering M.Ed. course. MAH-M.Ed. CET Eligibility requirements

Age criteria: There is no upper age limit for admission to MAH-M.Ed. CET exam for the academic year 2023-2024.

Educational Qualifications: You should have passed or appeared for any of these- B.Ed. or B.A. B.Ed. (4-year Integrated Course) or B.Sc. B.Ed. (4year Integrated Course) or B.El.Ed. or D.Ed./D.El.Ed.with a Graduation Degree from an NCTE-approved College of Education that is affiliated with a recognized non-Agricultural University in India.

Also, you should have obtained a minimum of 50% marks or an equivalent grade in the qualifying exam. Only for candidates of the State of Maharashtra, the minimum score required is 45% marks in case of Backward Class categories (refer to the official brochure to know the specific categories) who are having a Caste Certificate, Caste Validity, and Valid Non Creamy Layer Certificate, as applicable, which is valid up to 31st March 2024.

In case you are appearing/ have appeared for the qualifying exam of the academic year 2023-2024, you are permitted to register and apply for the CET, but you will be eligible for admission only if you produce the provisional/Degree certificate of the qualifying exam and mark sheets of all parts of the qualifying exam at the time of admission.



Note- Candidates who are applying as NRI/OCI/PIO/FNS/CIWGC should go through the information brochure to check their eligibility for the CET.

MAH-M.Ed. CET Application procedure

Registration and applications should be done in online mode only at the MAH-M.Ed.CET 2023 official website with a valid email ID and mobile number. It is advisable to first go through the information brochure that is available for free download on the website before filling in the online application form.

You will need to scan a recent photo and your signature to upload during the online application process. The photo should be a recent, passport-size colour photo, preferably against a white background (dimension 200 x 230 pixels preferred), and the size of the photo file should be between 20kb-50kb. The signature should be a clear one, in black ink pen on white paper (dimensions 140 x 60 pixels preferred), and the size of the file should be between 10kb-20kb.

When filling in the information online, ensure that you enter all the details correctly. Your name should be exactly as it appears in the SSC/HSC/equivalent certificates/mark sheets, as any change or alteration found may disqualify you from getting admission to the M.Ed. course.

The application fee as shown in the table below should be paid in online mode only either through Net Banking or with a Credit Card or a Debit Card (RuPay/Visa/MasterCard/Maestro) or IMPS, or Cash Cards/Mobile Wallets.

Once you submit the application successfully, an e-receipt will be generated. Take a printout of this e-receipt and keep it safely for future reference. You also need to take a printout of the completed application form. The copies of the CET application form, the fee receipt, and the Hall ticket will be required later for admission to the M.Ed. course.

MAH-M.Ed. Entrance Test Format

The CET exam for the M.Ed. course will be conducted online at over 20 designated test centres in Maharashtra (refer to the information brochure for the list of cities). During the online application process, you can select up to three centres of your choice but will be appearing for the test as per what is allotted to you.

The exam paper of 90 minutes has 5 sections, with a total of 100 marks and the questions are Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in English and Marathi. One mark will be allotted for each correct answer, and there is no negative marking for a wrong answer. The five sections, each of 20 marks, are-
  1. Educational Philosophy- and Educational Sociology

  2. Educational Psychology

  3. Educational Evaluation and Educational Statistics

  4. School Administration and Management

  5. Information and Communication Technology and Research Aptitudes

At the exam centre: Ensure that you reach the centre well before the start of the exam. You must bring with you a ballpoint pen, the Hall ticket with affixed photo, a valid Photo ID card in original (such as Aadhar Card or Pan Card or Driving License or the latest College ID, etc), and original proof for change in name (if applicable).

Key dates

Online registration opens on 23rd March 2023.
Online registration closes on 3rd April 2023.
Issuance of Hall Ticket can be done through the login at the official website (date to be announced later).
Online MAH-M.Ed.CET 2023 date is 9th May 2023.
The result of the MAH-M.Ed.-CET 2023 will be declared on the official website on a later-announced date.
