About M.Sc. Big Data Biology program
Overview
The M.Sc. program in Big Data Biology is a two-year interdisciplinary course that incorporates unique learning modules of biology, maths, data analytics, and information technology. The goal is to equip you with the knowledge and skills to take up a career not just as a biologist, but as also one in the field of computing that can be applied to the subject. That is, you will apply tools like AI and data analytics to the field of genetics or agriculture, etc you will learn to utilize computing programs in assisting with the diagnosis of health issues or therapy, conducting intense research on large data acquired through clinical trials, etc. In addition to attending theoretical academic lectures delivered by highly qualified faculty, you will be having practical classes in the lab, and interacting with eminent global scientists through seminars, workshops, etc. An important aspect of the course is the project work of 6 months, with a focus on genomics, AI and Machine Learning, and Image Informatics.
On completing the course, you will receive the degree that is awarded by Bangalore University. The Placement Cell will assist you with employment opportunities in the industry. You can even study further, by pursuing a Ph.D. program in India or abroad. IBAB offers scholarships to those requiring it, based on merit. M.Sc. Big Data Biology Eligibility Criteria
You should have a Bachelor's Degree in any branch of Life Science/Technology/Agriculture/Maths/Statistics/Computer Science/Medicine, and should get an aggregate score of a minimum of 50% in the Bachelor's degree exam.
Acceptable Degrees are- B.Sc., B.E, B.Tech., B.Pharm., BAgri, MBBS, BDS and BVSc. Some subject areas that are ideal to pursue the M.Sc. Big Data Biology is-
You can apply for admission to the MSc Big Data Biology course even if you are still in the final semester of the Bachelor's degree course. However, in such a case, you are required to fulfill the eligibility criteria and submit the original documents before the closing date for admissions. You can also apply if you have taken an academic break in your education or had a job for a few years.
Note- NRIs and foreign nationals who have passed the qualifying degree exam outside of India are required to submit the Equivalence Certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities along with their application.M.Sc. in Big Data Biology Admission Procedure
You need to submit your application in online mode at http://resource.ibab.ac.in/cgi-bin/application/Onlineapp.cgi
The non-refundable application fee should be paid through online transaction/NEFT (refer to the official brochure to know the Bank details for the NEFT transaction). The application fee is Rs. 600/- for students from India, and Rs. 1200/- for NRI students/foreign students. Note that you must provide the transaction details of fee payment, without which you cannot submit the application form. Hence, keep a soft copy of the proof of payment ready for uploading. IBAB Entrance Exam and Interview
You have to appear for a proctored online exam that is conducted on the national level. This entrance test, and the interview later (this maybe online or at the IBAB campus in Bengaluru), will form the basis of the final selection of candidates for the course. The subjects covered in the entrance test are physics, maths, chemistry, and life sciences. You can check the website to stay updated about changes, if any, in the test pattern and syllabi that is mentioned below-
The entrance test, based on the Class 12 syllabus, is of 2 hours with 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) in four sections- Maths and logical reasoning (20 questions), Physics (20 questions), Chemistry (20 questions), and Biology (40 questions). For a correct answer, you will be awarded +2 marks, and a wrong answer has a negative marking of -0.5.
After the test
Your score in the entrance test will determine whether or not you are eligible for appearing for the interview. The final score for admission is arrived at on the basis of the interview (forms 70%) and your earlier academic performance in Class 10, Class 12, and the Bachelor's qualifying exam (forms 30%). If you are selected, then you will receive an offer letter for admission that will provide instructions about the payment of fees. You must then confirm that you are accepting admission by paying the security deposit that will be refunded only on successful completion of the course. The fee is Rs. 20,000/- for resident Indian nationals, and Rs. 40,000/- for NRIs/foreign nationals.
Important notes: All fees should be paid through online transaction/NEFT. In the remarks column, you need to include your name and application number. Secondly, you are required to send the NEFT Transaction details, along with your name, and the application number, by email to msc@ibab.ac.inAdmission requirements

The online entrance test is scheduled for 28th May 2023.
The personal interview will be conducted in June 2023 (the date and time will be informed to the selected candidates).
The course will begin in July 2023.
