About The Basic Digital Filmmaking Course for Children by FTII


The short course exclusively for children will be conducted in Jaipur, Rajasthan from 20th to 24th May 2023 (timing from 10 AM to 5 PM - lunch break from 1 pm to 2 pm). The name of the course director is Ritesh Taksande. The short course fee is Rs. 7200/- (base fee = Rs 6102/- and GST = Rs 898/-). Course fee is excluding breakfast, lunch, tea/coffee, snacks etc. Course fee of selected participants for the Digital Filmmaking Course will be non-refundable, non-transferrable and non-adjustable under any circumstances except in COVID scenarios and in any other genuine reasons. Course fee of all the non – selected participants will be refunded within 07 – 10 days of the course commencement. Mode of fee payment is Online through SBI Collect. The exact venue of the course is "The Open Space Society (TOSS), 142, Frontier Colony, Adarsh Nagar, Jaipur, Rajasthan - 302004.

Eligibility Criteria for the Course


The course is designed for Indian (Nationality) children between the ages of 11 years completed to 18 years running as on 01st May 2023. Educational qualification criteria is 06th standard passed and in exceptional cases, 05th std. may be considered. The medium of instruction would be mainly English and partly Hindi. Participants are have in prospect the knowledge of English and Hindi as regards to reading, writing & speaking. Maximum number of participants inducted is 45. Selection is based on First cum First Served (FCFS) basis.

Application Procedure for the Course


To initiate the payment process for the Basic Digital Filmmaking Course for Children at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII), interested candidates can access the official website of State Bank of India (SBI) at www.onlinesbi.com. Once on the website, they need to click on the "SB Collect" option, located at the top left corner, sixth position from left to right, to proceed with the payment process. Alternatively, candidates can click on the link provided in the course information and proceed to the payment page.

On the payment page, candidates should search for the FTII Fees Account under the Educational Institutions category and click on the "Submit" button. They should then select the payment category "O1 Digital Filmmaking for Children" and fill in the required details in the application form. After completing the application form, they should proceed with the payment process and remit the required amount of Rs 7,200/-. Candidates should make a note of the "SBcollect Reference Number" provided in the payment confirmation receipt for future reference. They should also save the payment receipt digitally by taking a printout, scanning it and storing it, taking a screenshot of the payment (if using a mobile device) or taking a print screen (if using a computer), or simply taking a photograph from a mobile device.

It is important to note that no documents or certificates related to educational qualifications or age are required to be attached with the application form. The self-declaration provided by the participants in the application form is sufficient. Candidates who successfully complete the payment process and submit the application form will be eligible to attend the Basic Digital Filmmaking Course for Children at FTII.


The Digital Filmmaking Course Contents


The Basic Digital Filmmaking Course for Children offered by the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII) covers various aspects of filmmaking over the course of five days. The course content is designed to provide young students with a comprehensive understanding of the fundamentals of filmmaking and equip them with the skills necessary to produce a short film. On Day 01, students will be introduced to the world of filmmaking and will learn about the various elements that go into creating a compelling visual story. They will also be taught how to develop a screenplay and form strong characters that will drive the narrative forward. The day will end with an assignment that will prepare students for the next session.

Day 02 will focus on the process of filmmaking and will delve into the various stages of pre-production and production. Students will learn about script breakdown and planning for the shoot, as well as the technical aspects of cinematography such as camera work, sequence, scene, shot, and take. The day will include practical exercises on camera and lighting, which will give students hands-on experience in using the equipment required to create a film. The session will conclude with an assignment that will require students to keep their pre-production ready for the final production of their film.

On Day 03, students will learn about the production of short films for screen and will be given the opportunity to put their knowledge into practice by producing their own short film. Day 04 will focus on post-production, where students will learn about editing, sound design, composition, and visual effects. The day will be dedicated to honing their technical skills and preparing their film for the final editing stage. Day 05 will see the final editing of the film, followed by voiceover recording, dubbing, and sound mixing. The session will end with the screening of the final film and a review of the students' work.
