National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi has announced admission notification to various teacher education programs in its various Regional Institutes of Education (RIEs). Overview
Being an autonomous organization established in the year 1961 by the Ministry of Education, Indian Government; the aim of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT), New Delhi is to look after the school education and teacher education as well. In addition to that, the organization is solely responsible to assist and advise both the Central and State Governments on how to improve the education system. For the last 55 years, these institutes are offering various courses in the area of school and teacher education. Students get the opportunity for placement in various organizations through campus interviews. They are also free to take decisions whether they will go for higher studies. Moreover, 50% of students are offered merit scholarships whereas the rest will have other scholarship schemes.
NCERT, New Delhi is presently inviting online applications from eligible candidates for admission to various courses in its various Regional Institutes of Education, shortly known as RIEs, all over India for the academic session 2023-24.

4 Years Integrated Course, B.Sc.B.Ed.
Through this English medium integrated course students learn both in content and pedagogy. However, after successful completion of the course, they will be able to teach in both Hindi and English medium. There are two groups in this course, namely the Physical Science Group (PCM) and the Biological Science Group (CBZ). The duration of both groups is 4 years. In the Physical Science Group, students with a combination of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics will become Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) in Mathematics/ Science while they will have a career as Trained Graduate Teachers (TGT) in Science having a subject combination with Chemistry, Botany, and Zoology in Biological Science Group.
The course is offered by the RIEs located in Bhubaneswar and Mysore.
Candidates who want to take admission to this course should be passed in 10+2 or HS or Sr. Sec. or any equivalent standard examination in 2021 or 2022 from any recognized university or board recognized by the affiliating Universities of the RIEs. In case, candidates are appearing or appeared in 2023 may also apply for this course. Candidates interested in the Physical Science Group should pass the above exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or Statistics which is called PCM and those who want admission to the Biological Science Group should have Physics, Chemistry and Biology in 10+2 standard which is called PCB. Candidates should have 50% marks in aggregate of the qualifying exam which is relaxed by 5% for Sc/ ST/ PwD candidates.
There are a total of 50+5 (reserved for EWS) seats available for each PCM and CBZ course offered by each institute.4 Years Integrated Course, B.A.B.Ed.
The course structure is based on one language and two social science subjects. Complete integration of content and pedagogy will lead them to become trained graduate teachers in either social science or language. Though the medium of the course is designed in English after completion, they will be able to teach in both Hindi and English medium.
This course is also offered by the RIEs located in Bhubaneswar and Mysore.
Candidates willing to take admission to this course should have passed 10+2 or HS or Sr. Sec. or any equivalent standard examination in Science and Commerce or Arts stream with at least 50% marks in the aggregate which is relaxed by 5% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates, in the year of 2021 or 2022 from any recognized university or board or appearing/appeared in the same in 2023.
Both institutions have 50+5 (reserved for EWS) seats for this course.6 Years Integrated Course, M.Sc.Ed. in Maths/ Physics/ Chemistry
The course is offered by the RIE, Mysore only, and students from any state or union territory are allowed to take admission to this course. This post-graduate course is designed in three separate science streams i.e. M.Sc.Ed.-Mathematics, M.Sc.Ed.-Physics, and M.Sc.Ed.-Chemistry. There will be two semesters in each year during the total six years duration of the course. Course content is designed considering the syllabus of B.Sc. with PCM and M.Sc. in the respective subject as such it is equivalent to M.Sc. and B.Ed. degrees. Once a candidate passes this course, will be capable to teach at the senior secondary level or will be eligible to pursue a Ph.D. degree in the respective subject.
Candidates who wish to take admission to this course should have passed 10+2 or HS or Sr. Sec. or any equivalent standard examination in 2021 or 2022 having Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics/ Statistics (PCM) with 50% marks in aggregate which is relaxed by 5% for SC/ ST/ PwD candidates, recognized by the affiliating Universities of the RIEs. The maximum marks scored among Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics, or Statistics will be considered as aggregate for CEE ranking in this course. Candidates who are appearing or appeared in 2023, may also apply for this course.
20+2 (reserved for EWS) seats are available for each of the Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry programs.2 Years B.Ed.
This course is offered by all the Regional Institutes of Education. Through the course, students will be able to become efficient teachers of Science/Maths or Social Science or Languages at the secondary level. History, Geography, Political Science and Economics will be taught as a single to become quality secondary-level teachers of Social Sciences.
A Bachelor's degree with or without a Master's degree in Science or a Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Technology having specialization in Science/ Mathematics or a Bachelor's degree with or without a Master's degree in Social Science/ Humanities with 50% marks is needed to be eligible for this course. However, there is a relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ ST/PwD candidates.
There are 25 seats with extra 10% for EWS in each Science & Mathematics Group and Social Science & Language group available in Mysore and Shillong whereas Bhubaneswar, Ajmer and Bhopal offer 50+5 (reserved for Ews) seats in each group. 2 Years M.Ed.
M.Ed. program is offered by all the RIEs except RIE, Shillong. The course is designed keeping the needs of Teacher Training Institutions in mind. The aim of the course is to prepare teacher educators for various educational research or to work in the field of teacher education.
Candidates should have passed with 50% marks in B.Ed. or B.A.B.Ed./ B.A.Ed./ B.Sc.B.Ed./ B.Sc.Ed. or B.El.Ed. or D.El.Ed. along with a Bachelor's degree either in Arts or Science with 50% marks to take admission to the M.Ed. course. 5% relaxation is there for SC/ST/PwD Candidates.
50+5 (reserved for EWS) seats are available in Bhopal, Ajmer and Mysore and 32+4 (reserved for EWS) seats are available in Bhubaneswar.3 Years B.Ed.M.Ed.
This course is offered by RIE, Bhopal only this year. There is no such information available on the official website of NCERT as such interested candidates may contact the helpdesk furnished below.Application process
Candidates interested to take admission to the above courses should visit the official website https://cee.ncert.gov.in/ to register themselves. They need to provide their personal details and upload supporting documents as asked for. Then the non-returnable exam fee of Rs. 1200/- for General and OBC candidates or Rs. 600/- for SC/ST/PwD candidates needs to be paid online. Download the admit card as per provided date sheet.
Once, the exam is completed, a Common Entrance Examination (CEE - 2023) rank will be allotted for the eligible candidates only considering 60% weightage from CEE-2023 and 40% weightage for the qualifying exam. A list of selected candidates as well as a waiting list will be published on the website of the respective RIE. Candidates will also be intimated through SMS for counseling.
Once the verification of all supporting documents is over and the institutions are fully convinced, candidates will become bonafide students of that RIE.
