ONGC Foundation has announced applications open for applying for ONGC Foundation Merit Scholarships 2022-23 that are offered to meritorious SC/ST, OBC, and General (EWS) students who are in the first year of undergraduate engineering, MBBS, MBA courses or are pursuing a Master's program in Geology/Geophysics. 50% of the scholarships are reserved for female candidates.

At the outset, it should be made clear that only Indian nationals and those who have got admission to full-time/regular courses for the academic year 2022-23 are eligible to apply. It is mandatory to be pursuing a full-time regular course that is recognized by AICTE/MCI/UGC/Association of Indian Universities/State Education Boards/State Government/Central Government. Students who are in part-time courses are not eligible to apply. You cannot avail of more than one ONGC Merit Scholarship at the same time but can apply for a different scholarship once the duration of the earlier scholarship that you applied for has ended.
ONGC Merit Scholarship Details
Only those students who have passed Class XII (CBSE/ICSE board) or an equivalent exam of a State Board, and students who have completed their graduation for the current year are eligible to apply for the ONGC Merit Scholarships. You cannot apply if you are pursuing integrated courses.
The ONGC Merit Scholarship cannot be transferred in case you change the institution or the course during the scholarship tenure. Also, if you apply for and receive any different scholarship subsequently after the award of the ONGC Merit Scholarship, then you must refund the entire scholarship amount received from the ONGC Foundation.
At the time of applying, you have to select from one of these, as applicable-
Important: If you are applying in the ST/SC category it is mandatory to provide a valid caste certificate that has been issued from the competent District Revenue Authorities who are not below the rank of Tehsildar. A translated copy of the caste certificate is required in case the issued certificate is not in Hindi or English. Also, a self-certified certificate should be verified by the Head of the Institution where you are studying.
Scholarship Amount
If selected for the ONGC Merit Scholarship, you will receive a scholarship of Rs. 48,000/- on an annual basis, with the renewal of the scholarship dependent on passing the annual or semester exam. The amount will be credited on a yearly basis by ECS to the savings bank account that you have given in your application, after completion of the academic year. The bank account should not be a current account or a joint account or the account of a minor. Duration of the Scholarship
Once awarded, the ONGC Merit Scholarship will be continued every year till the completion of the course, subject to getting a promotion to the next year of the course. In order to avail of continuation of the scholarship, you need to send an online 'Application for renewal' in the prescribed format.Number of Scholarships
ONGC Merit Scholarship Selection process
Selection for the ONGC Merit Scholarship will be made on the basis of the aggregate marks obtained in the qualifying exam as prescribed for each of the specified courses. Preference shall be given to students who are from families that are below the poverty line (BPL families), and other students will be considered only if a sufficient number of students from BPL families is not available.ONGC Merit Scholarship Eligibility requirements
Age: Not more than 30 years as on 1st May 2022.
Income: The gross family income should not be over Rs. 2 Lakhs per annum from all sources.
Educational Qualification and Marks for UG Courses: You should have obtained a minimum of 60% marks in the Class 12 exam for engineering and M.B.B.S. disciplines as applicable. In the case of a grading system, an overall grade point Average (OGPA/CGPA) of a minimum 6.0 on the 10-point scale is essential.

Applications should be submitted at https://ongcscholar.org/ from 23rd May 2023 onwards. It has been advised to apply preferably through a desktop or, if applying through a mobile phone, to put it in 'desktop mode', and ensure that the Wi-Fi connection is a quick and stable one so that there are no disruptions in the middle of filling in the online application form.
The complete application with all the supporting documents duly certified and attested by the Head/Principal/Dean of the Institute/College/University should be uploaded and the same required to be shared in hard copies should reach the designated office of ONGC as per the details given in application format.
The following documents should be scanned and kept ready in PDF or image format (JPEG, JPG, PNG format if it is an image) and smaller than 200KB in size for uploading before starting to fill the form-
Note- Documents 2 to 11 are mandatory documents, while document 1 and document 12 are non-mandatory documents. Important dates
