How to build your career in Indian Navy as an Agniveer through Agnipath Scheme 02/2023

Indian Navy is giving an opportunity to both, unmarried young males and females, to start their careers as Agniveer through the Agnipath Scheme approved by the Government of India. This article gives details about the eligibility, online application procedure, etc related to the entry to Indian Navy.

About Agnipath Scheme

Agnipath Scheme or Agnipath Yojana was announced by the Union Cabinet in June 2022 as a new employment program to recruit young soldiers, sailors, and air force personnel of the Indian armed forces. The personnel appointed under this fresh recruitment will be known as Agniveers to serve the Indian military force for four years. After completion of these 4 years, 25% of each batch will be recruited in a permanent post on an "All India all Class" basis to serve a minimum of 15 more years.

A consolidated monthly salary of Rs. 30000, Rs. 33000, Rs. 36500, and Rs. 40000 will be provided to all Agniveers during their 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th years of association. No gratuity and pensionary benefits will be there. Each Agniveer will be covered under a non-contributory Life Insurance scheme of Rs. 48 lakhs during their engagement period.

Indian Navy is now inviting unmarried male and female candidates to join as Agniveer 02/2023 (Nov 23) batch.



Type of entry and eligibility criteria

  1. Agniveer (Senior Secondary Recruit):
    Vacancy: 1365 numbers including a maximum of 273 females
    Educational qualifications: Candidates should be passed in the 10+2 standard examination conducted by the Boards of School Education recognized by the Ministry of Education, Indian Govt. with Mathematics, Physica, and any one of Chemistry, Biology, and Computer Science.
    Age of the candidates: The date of birth should be between 1st Nov 2002 to 30th Apr 2006 inclusive of both dates
  2. Agniveer (Matric Recruit):
    Vacancy: 100 numbers including a maximum of 20 females
    Educational qualifications: Candidates should be passed in Matriculation examination conducted by the Boards of School Education recognized by the Ministry of Education, Indian Govt.
    Age of the candidates: The date of birth should be between 1st Nov 2002 to 30th Apr 2006 inclusive of both dates

Selection procedure

Candidates should cross the following stages for the selection process as mentioned below:
  1. Computer-based Examination, INET: An exam of 100 questions carrying 1 mark each will be conducted for a duration of one hour. The mode of questions will be English and Hindi and multiple choice type question paper will be prepared into four sections I.e. English, Science, Mathematics, and General Awareness. One-fourth of negative marks will be assigned for each wrong answer
  2. Shortlisting: Candidates will be state-wise shortlisted based on the marks scored in the above test.
  3. Shortlisted candidates in INET shall be received a call letter for Stage II which will contain a written examination, Physical Fitness Test (PFT), and Recruitment Medical
    Examination.
  4. A merit list will be prepared based on the performance of the Stage-II written exam subject to the qualification in PFT and Recruitment Medical Examination which will be available at https://agniveernavy.cdac.in by October 2023.
  5. A Final Recruitment Medical Examination of all selected candidates will be held at INS Chilka based on which the induction of candidates will be decided.




Examination fees

Candidates should deposit Rs. 550 (Rupees Five hundred fifty only) as an examination fee along with 18% GST. The examination fee should be paid online during registration of the online applications through net banking or Visa/ Master/ RuPay Credit or Debit Card or UPI. In the failure of successful payment of the examination fee admit card for the examinations will not be issued.

How to Apply

Candidates should register and apply online mode only available at https://agniveernavy.cdac.in

Candidates should fill up the online application carefully with the correct details only as no correction will be allowed beyond the last date for the submission of applications.

Candidates should upload a recent passport-size photo of 10 KB to 50 KB snapped not before April 2023. Candidates should hold a black slate in front of his/her chest while the photograph will be taken and the name of the candidate along with the date of the photograph taken should clearly be written on the slate.

Candidates may also register their applications through Common Service Centers (CSC) available across the country against payment of Rs. 60 along with GST.

The online portal has been opened for the registration of online applications for Indian Navy Agniveer 02/2023 on 29th May 2023 and will remain open till 15th June 2023.
