Courses and Eligibility Requirements 2023
Kathak Elementary Courses
An Elementary Course includes a Foundation Course of five years duration, as well as a 3-year Diploma Course. Some prior exposure to Kathak would be preferable but is not mandatory. You are required to attend classes thrice a week in the afternoon.
For the first year of the Foundation Course, the eligibility criteria are-
Age criterion: 10 to 15 years as of 1st June 2023.
Education: You should have completed Class III of the continuing school education.
For the first year of the Diploma Course, the eligibility criteria are-
Age criterion: 15 to 20 years as of 1st June 2023.
Education: You should have completed Class IX of the continuing school education.
General: Interest or some experience in any form of Art other than dance, such as music, theatre, or visual arts, is preferable.
Kathak Advanced Courses
An Advanced Course includes a Diploma (Hons.) Course of three years duration, and a 2-year Post-Diploma Course. Since the advanced courses are full-time ones, you are required to attend the classes every day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. (only on the second Saturday of the month there are no classes). Note that in case you have not had any exposure to training, but show potential, you will be placed in an initial one year of preparatory training. If you achieve proficiency through this year, then you will be allowed to join the regular stream, otherwise, you will be required to leave the training program.
Eligibility for the first year of the Diploma (Hons.) Course is as follows-
Age criterion: You should be 19 to 23 years of age as of 1st June 2023.
Educational qualification: You should have a Senior Secondary School Certificate.
Additional qualification: You should have completed the Diploma (Pass) course either from Kathak Kendra, Delhi, or have completed an equivalent training program.
Eligibility for the first year of the Post-Diploma Course is as follows-
Age criterion: You should be 21 to 26 years, as of 1st June 2023.
Educational qualification: You should have completed Graduation or equivalent exam.
Additional qualification: You should have completed a Diploma (Hons.) course from Kathak Kendra, Delhi, or have completed an equivalent training program. Kathak Refresher Course
This 6-month course is spread over two terms with classes held from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on six days of the week (no classes on the second Saturday of the month). The course is open for students who have completed the Diploma (Hons.) Course or the Post-Diploma Course from Kathak Kendra, Delhi, or have successfully completed an equivalent type of training program. Other eligibility requirements are-
Age criterion: You should be below 40 years as of 1st June 2023.
Professional qualification: You should be a Dance Teacher in a school or in a dance institution.Music Courses
It is preferable that you have an aptitude for playing percussion/awareness of rhythms/basics of vocal music, as applicable, for the music courses.One-year Certificate Courses
These courses are in Tabla, Pakhawaj, Sarangi, and Vocal music. The eligibility criteria are-
Age criterion: 19 to 21 years as of 1st June 2023.
Education: Completed the Senior Secondary Certificate School exam.Diploma Special Courses
These courses are of three years duration in Tabla, Pakhawaj, Sarangi, and Vocal music. Classes are from 12 noon to 5 p.m. six days a week (no classes are scheduled for the second Saturday of a month).
Age criterion: 20 to 25 years of age as of 1st June 2023.
Kathak Kendra courses admission procedure
Students can obtain the application form for the above courses either online at the Kathak Kendra Delhi official website or at Kathak Kendra, New Delhi on all working days with a cash payment of Rs.300/-.
The application form should be completed and sent by email to admission@kathakkendra.in or can be sent by Courier to the institute by 28th June 2022, after payment of Rs.200/- through online mode or a Draft in favour of "Director Kathak Kendra".2023 Admission Schedule

For Elementary Dance Courses-
The tests are scheduled for the 3rd, 4th, and 5th of July 2023.
The result will be displayed on the website and on the Kathak Kendra Campus notice board on 10th July 2023.
The submission of the course fee and completion of all required formalities of admission should be done on the 11th, 12th, and 13th of July 2023.
Orientation sessions will be held on 14th July 2023, while allotment of classes and Biometric verification of students will be done on 15th July 2023.
New batches will then begin on 17th July 2023.
For Advanced Dance Courses-
The test dates are scheduled for the 10th, 11th, and 12th of July 2023.
