University of Mumbai's Academy of Theatre Arts has announced admissions open for the postgraduate M.A. in Theatre Arts course and for the undergraduate Diploma in Acting Skills program for the academic session starting this year. Foreign students are also welcome to apply. The fees for both courses are quite reasonable, and the lessons, both in theoretical and practical mode, will be imparted and delivered by highly reputed experts in the field. This is a full-time course of two years duration which blends 40% theoretical modules with 60% practicals. You will learn the various techniques and creative aspects of theatre, alongside developing leadership and organizational skills and understanding the administrative and marketing side as well. You will get multiple opportunities to watch plays and interact with theatre personalities. Field projects may also be assigned as well, as per the feasibility.
The course curriculum of the M.A. in Theatre Arts includes-Course fee
The annual fee is Rs. 32,205/- for Indian students, and Rs. 1,67,875/- for foreign students. Additionally, you have to pay a separate exam fee per year of Rs. 2060/-. Note that there is no provision for payment of fees in installments, and you must pay the course fee for each year at one time within the scheduled dates. Eligibility criteria
You must be a Graduate in any stream or have an equivalent qualification. It is also mandatory to have some relevant theatre experience, with a minimum of three theatre experience certificates essential to produce for eligibility.
Documents required when applying for admission- The mark sheet and passing certificate of Class 10 (S.S.C.), the mark sheet and passing certificate of Class 12 (H.S.C.), Graduate/Postgraduate certificate, and certificates of theatre experience.
About Diploma in Acting Skills
This is also a one-year full-time course.Course fee
The fee for the one-year course is Rs. 30,680/-. Additionally, you have to pay a separate exam fee per year of Rs. 2060/-. Note that there is no provision for payment of fees in installments, and you must pay the year's fee at one time only on getting admission to the course.Eligibility criteria
Age criterion: Your age should not be over 30 years.
Educational Qualification: You should have passed the Class 12 exam (H.S.C. exam) from a recognized Board or any equivalent exam. You should also have participated in theatre or in an activity related to a film (a short film also will do).
Documents required when applying for admission- The mark sheet and passing certificate of Class 10 (S.S.C.), the mark sheet and passing certificate of Class 12 (H.S.C.), and the certificate to indicate theatre or short film or film activity experience.Application procedure
