Sun Pharma Science Foundation, a unit of Sun Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. invites applications for the 2023 Research Awards, as also for the Science Scholar Awards.
The Foundation's Research Awards are for original research work of Indian scientists working in India or abroad in the field of medical and pharmaceutical sciences. NRIs with valid Indian passports are also welcome to apply. About SPSF Research Awards
At the outset it should be made clear that nominations should be made by the Head of the research institute/university/medical college/pharmaceutical college and/or anyone who has the qualifications and expertise to review the research work for which the nomination is made.
The Sun Pharma Science Foundation will award three scientists, two in the field of medical sciences, and one in the field of pharmaceutical sciences. In the case of medical sciences, one is for basic research, and the other is for medical research. The winners will each receive a cash prize of Rs.2,50,000/- along with a trophy and a citation.
Eligibility requirements
Nationality: Indian nationals and Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) with valid Indian passports can apply.
Research work: The research scope for the award in Medical Sciences would be in the areas of Basic Research or Clinical Research. In the case of basic research, the work should be related to advances made in physical science or biomedical science that would assist in broadening the scope of medical sciences. In the case of clinical research areas, the research scope would cover advances in diagnosing diseases, lab methods that would be helpful towards the healthcare of patients, epidemiological studies, etc.
The research scope for the award in Pharmaceutical Sciences would be in the areas of the discovery and development of new drugs, applied research in biotechnology, molecular biology, etc.

Nominations should be submitted online only at https://sunpharmasciencefoundation.net/ssan/18
First, the basic information of the applicant has to be entered in the online form, namely name, address, email ID, mobile phone number, etc. Once the applicant's details are filled in, details of the nominator come next, as well as a signed justification letter as to why the nomination is made. Once this is done, a login ID and password will be issued to proceed to the next stage of the nomination process.
In the next stage, the applicant's complete biodata, a list of 10 best papers, details of the research work for which the nomination is made, a statement that the nominated research work did not get any awards earlier, etc (refer to the official website for the complete list of documents that is required).
A printed copy of the nomination, along with all attachments, should be sent to the Foundation's office (refer to contact details below).
Important dates
Nominations can be submitted from 1st July 2023 onward.
The last date of receipt of nominations is 31st August 2023.
