Good to know before applying: You are advised to check if the course you are applying for is UGC-approved/AICTE-approved and specifically for the academic session of July 2023 onwards. While you are permitted to apply for two programs simultaneously, such as one degree and one diploma or two diplomas (refer to the FAQs on the official website), consider the fact that there may be a clash in exam dates and therefore best focus on one distance education program at a time. You could also check who are the faculty who have been engaged for the SDE courses under the 'student support' Tab on the official website.
Features of BY(DU) Distance Education Courses
The School of Distance Education (SDE) offers courses through the nine Learner Support Centres that have been set up on campuses of the university's institutions in Navi Mumbai, Pune (three centres), Kolhapur, Solapur, Karad, and Sangli in Maharashtra, and in New Delhi. At the centre you can get access to library facilities and attend tutorials, submit assignments for evaluation, appear for the requisite university exams, etc. The programs at all centres follow the syllabus as per the university norms, with each program monitored by an academic coordination unit.
It should be noted that you will receive study material and suggested reading sources, and although there will be general tutoring at the centre with feedback given on your progress, you have to do the course through self-learning. You can refer to textbooks for a particular subject at the campus library, and where required, computer practicals will be scheduled at the centre. For a subject that requires fieldwork, you will be given the required guidance. In case you have academic difficulties, such as understanding a particular subject's concepts, you can attend the personal contact sessions that are scheduled during holidays, including Sundays or Saturdays and public holidays. Seminars may also be held during the holidays. As a student of the School of Education, you are required to follow the rules and regulations of the university, so check about mandatory requirements for attending contact sessions, when assignments need to be submitted, etc.Fees
The application fee is Rs. 200/- (if the course is for more than one year, you have to pay the application fee again for each subsequent year). This fee will not be refunded.
