PM YASASVI Scholarships for OBC, EBC and DNT school students applications open

The Department of Social Justice and Empowerment, Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Govt. of India invites applications from OBC, EBC, and DNT school students for the PM Young Achievers Scholarship Award Scheme for Vibrant India, known in short as the PM YASASVI. Students are eligible for the scholarship on the basis of their scores in the YASASVI entrance test (YET-2023) that is conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA).

The Central Govt. scholarships are available for students who are studying in India and not for those who are pursuing studies abroad. The school can be a public school at the local or State level or Central level or a private school, or an aided school. The scholarships are offered at two levels, namely, for students who are in Class 9, and for students who are in Class 11. Although there are a total of 30,000 scholarships available, the number of scholarships will be determined on the basis of merit and the number of slots available. On clearing the entrance test, students also need to fulfill all the required eligibility criteria and only once this is confirmed along with verification of documents, then they will be eligible to receive the scholarship.
Scholarship amount: Up to Rs. 75,000 p.a. for Class 9/10; and Rs. 1,25,000 p.a. for Class 11/12. The scholarship covers the school tuition fee/hostel fee.PM YASASVI Eligibility Criteria
To avail of the scholarship, you should be an Indian national of the Other Backward Class (OBC) or Economically Backward Classes (EBC) or De Notified, Nomadic & Semi-Nomadic Tribes (DNT) category.
Other eligibility criteria are as follows-
School criterion: You should be a student of a school that is considered to be a 'Top Class School' as per the list drawn up by the Central Govt.- https://yet.nta.ac.in/frontend/web/schoollists/index
Pass criterion: For the scholarship for Class 9 students, you should have passed Class 8 in 2022-23, and for the scholarship for Class 11 students, you should have passed Class 10 in 2022-23.
Income criterion: The annual income of the parents/guardian from all sources should not be more than Rs. 2.5 lakhs.
Age criterion: If you are applying for the Class 9 exam, then your date of birth should be between 1st April 2007 to 31st March 2011 both days inclusive). If you are applying for the Class 11 exam, then your date of birth should be between 1st April 2005 to 31st March 2009 (both days inclusive).
Entrance test scores: You should get at least 35% marks in the written test to qualify for a scholarship under the Scheme.
Features of YASASVI YET-2023
There is no fee to appear for the entrance test (YET-2023) for which the question paper will be in English and Hindi in paper-pen mode (OMR sheets will be given). Since the entrance test for Class 9 and Class 11 will be conducted simultaneously on the same date and in the same session, make sure you are answering the correct question paper, this being indicated on your Admit Card.
The 100-mark paper will have Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs), with one mark for a correct answer and no negative marking for an incorrect answer. The duration of the paper is 2 ½ hours. The subjects of the entrance test and marks are as follows-
Maths: 30 marks for the 30 questions.
Science: 25 marks for the 25 questions.
Social Sciences: 25 marks for the 25 questions.
General Knowledge: 20 marks for the 20 questions. PM YASASVI Application Procedure
You have to submit an online application for registration with a valid email ID and a mobile number at https://yet.nta.ac.in/frontend/web/registration/index
Before doing so, read the entire information brochure that is available for a free download on the page, as it contains complete details about the scholarship scheme and instructions on how to fill up the online application form. Through the brochure, you can also confirm that you fulfill the eligibility criteria.
Fill in the details in the online application form, including the Aadhar/UID Number which is mandatory, and upload the required documents which are as follows-
While filling in the application form online, you can select any 4 cities as the choice for an exam centre. Ensure that you select this carefully, as you cannot change the choice of city once the Admit Card has been issued.
After submitting the application, take a printout of the application form (which is the confirmation page) for your own record.
Good to know: In case you are not familiar with online application processes and need guidance, you can approach the staff at the nearest Common Services Centre (CSC) to assist you in filling up the online application form. Download the Admit Card from the official website and check that the name, roll number, date of birth, question paper medium, and other details are correct. You will not receive the Admit Card in physical format by post or other means. The exam centre will also be put on the Admit Card.
Important to know: The photo ID that you take to the exam centre should have the name exactly as it is on the Admit Card. In case of a change of name, it is mandatory to show a relevant document such as the 'Legal Name Change' document.
Prior to going for the test, you need to also affix your photo and the impression of your left-hand thumb at the foot of the declaration and also get the signature of your parent affixed at the space provided for it.

It is advisable to check out the location of the center well before the test date so that you can reach on time, and be punctual. You must bring the following to the test centre-
You are also permitted to bring water in a transparent water bottle, and those who are diabetic can bring their tablets and/or fruits as required.
At the centre, you must sign on the Admit Card in the presence of the Invigilator, and affix your photo on the attendance sheet. After finishing the exam, you need to hand over the Admit Card to the Invigilator. Important dates
The application form should be submitted from 11th July to 10th August 2023 up to 11.50 p.m.
Details filled in can be corrected if required from 12th August to 16th August 2023.
