Established over two decades ago by the Maharshi Karve Stree Shikshan Samstha (MKSSS), the Smt. Bakul Tambat Institute of Nursing Education (BTINE), Pune is a Government-recognized college that is approved by the Indian Nursing Council, Delhi as well as the Maharashtra Nursing Council, Mumbai. The institute offers professional undergraduate and postgraduate courses in nursing and midwifery courses.
Faculty, including Guest faculty, conduct seminars and screen short films on topics related to nursing and health. Students are encouraged to participate in discussions with experts such as sociologists, police personnel, counselors, etc. on a diverse range of topics such as the safety of women and children, awareness of and preventing substance abuse, etc. Extra-curricular activities include debates, dance, street plays, cultural events, etc. and students enthusiastically participate in sports like cricket, volleyball, kabaddi, athletic events, etc.
Campus infrastructure: In addition to classrooms for formal lectures, there is a Nursing lab that has mannequins that are used for hands-on training, a nutrition lab, an anatomy lab, and other allied labs. Other facilities include an audiovisual room, a health club, a post office, a bank, a library, and a conference room. The hostel has its own mess and recreational facilities.
Placement: BTINE has entered into collaboration with the Jnana Prabodhini Medical Trust and Lata Mangeshkar Medical Foundation which runs two prestigious hospitals in Pune city, namely, the Deenanath Mangeshkar Hospital and the Mai Mangeshkar Hospital. Hence, students who successfully complete a nursing course at BTINE get employment opportunities at these hospitals through the placement drive on campus, and alumni have also got jobs at other reputed hospitals in Pune and Mumbai.BTINE Courses and Eligibility Criteria
The midwifery courses have received affiliation from the Maharashtra State Board of Nursing and Paramedical Education (MSBNPE), Mumbai while the nursing courses are all affiliated with the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik. B.Sc. Nursing Course
This 4-year B.Sc. Nursing course course has 50 seats for those who have appeared for the 2023 B.Sc. Nursing MH-CET.
Age criteria: 17 to 35 years.
Educational Qualification: You should have passed Class 12 in the science stream with a minimum of 45% in Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and English (min. 40% for reserved category students). Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing Course
The 2-year Post-Basic B.Sc. Nursing Course has 60 seats for those who have registered with the State Nursing Council.
Age criteria: up to 50 years of age.
Educational Qualification: You should have passed the General Nursing Midwifery course with a minimum of 50%.M.Sc. Nursing Course
The 2-year M.Sc. Nursing course has 10 seats for those who have registered with the State Nursing Council.
Age criteria: up to 55 years of age.
Educational Qualification: B.Sc. Nursing/P.B.B.Sc. Nursing with a minimum of 55%.
Experience: You should have at least one year of work experience after the State Nursing Council registration.
Auxiliary Nurse Midwifery (A.N.M.)
The A.N.M. is a 2-year course for which there are 30 seats. Scholarships are available for SC and ST students.
Age criteria: 17 to 35 years of age.
Educational Qualification: You should have passed H.S.C. (Class 12) in any stream (Arts or Science or Commerce of Vocational stream).General Nursing and Midwifery (G.N.M.) Course
The General Nursing and Midwifery (G.N.M.) course is a 3-year Diploma course with 80 seats. Scholarships are available for SC and ST students.
Age criteria: 17 to 35 years of age.
Educational Qualification: You should have passed H.S.C. (Class 12) in any stream (Arts or Science or Commerce of Vocational stream) with a minimum of 50%.Ph.D. Nursing program
This is a 3-year doctoral program that can be completed up to a maximum of 6 years. Admission is done through the MUHS-conducted Ph.D. Entrance Test (PET).Application procedure
