The National Institute of Immunology (NII), an autonomous research institute under the Department of Biotechnology (DBT) for research in immunology, is affiliated with Jawaharlal Nehru University. Currently, the University has invited applications for admission to the Ph.D. programs in the broad interdisciplinary research areas of Immunology, Infectious and Chronic Disease Biology, Molecular and Cellular Biology, Chemical Biology, Structural Biology, and Computational Biology for the academic year 2023- 2024 winter session. Candidates who have been admitted to the Ph.D. program at NII can avail of the fellowship for which they are qualified. NII currently provides a Junior Research Fellowship of Rs.31000/- per month to the selected candidates. Awardees of fellowships from CSIR, UGC, ICMR, DBT, and/or DST may avail them as per the rules of the respective funding agency
Eligibility criteria
1. A master's degree in any branch of Science (e.g. Biology, Chemistry, Mathematics, Physics).Tech., M.B.B.S., M.VSc., M.Pharm., Integrated M.Sc., or an equivalent qualification as per the norms of the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU), New Delhi.
2. The candidate should have at least a 60% aggregate score or equivalent grade in Senior Secondary Certificate (10+2) and Bachelor's degree and a 55% aggregate score or equivalent grade in Master's degree is essential for the general category. 5% relaxation would be given to candidates from the reserved categories (OBC (non-creamy layer; NCL), SC/ST, PwD, and EWS) in the aggregate scores in Senior Secondary, Bachelor's, and Master's degrees.

For registration, candidates need to provide their full name, date of birth, email address, and mobile number. After that, a confirmation email as well as an SMS will be sent to your registered e-mail ID and mobile number, respectively. Then upload the required documents. Make an online payment through any debit/ credit card/ net banking/UPI using an online payment gateway of Rs. 1200/- for GEN/OBC(NCL) and Rs 600/- for SC/ST/PWD Candidates. Once the application form is completed, the applicant should click on the 'Final Submit' button to save all details provided. The applicant may check the filled application in the preview and modify it if required. The applicant will then be redirected to a payment gateway to complete the payment process.Documents to be attached
Selection Procedure
Selection will be done based on their performance in the Computer-based Entrance Examination NII-2024 to be conducted by the institute. The written test will be conducted online mode only. Based on marks obtained in the NII Ph.D. entrance exam (winter session), candidates will be shortlisted for interviews to be held at the National Institute of Immunology, New Delhi. Reservation of Seats
There will be a 15% reservation in seats for SC, 7.5% for ST, and 27% for non-creamy layer OBC candidates. Apart from this, 10% of seats are reserved for EWS (Economically Weaker Section) candidates and 5% for Persons with Disability (PwD) candidates. The candidates who wish to get the reservation category benefit must apply under this category and should produce a relevant category certificate at the time of the interview.Important dates
