Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Registration begins for admissions 2024 for classes IX and XI

About Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya
Primarily, aiming to upscale academic education to talented children from rural areas who are socially/financially unprivileged, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, (JNV), an educational system of central schooling in our country was established in the 1980s. The JNVs have been administered by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti in Noida, an autonomous body of the Department of School Education and Literacy, Ministry of Education in India. These JNVs have been started as co-ed residential schools from classes VI to XII and are curriculum-wise governed by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The students up to class VIII are given education free of cost and a minimum fee for classes from IX-XII. Excluding the State of Tamil Nadu, about 661 JNVs have been sanctioned to run throughout India, however, 649 Navodaya Schools are currently functioning with 87% in rural districts as of the data by December 2022.
Key features of the JNVs instituted by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti include science promotion activities through taking part in academic contests, Olympiads, research institutional visits, environmental exposure, entrepreneurial skill development, motivation towards STEM career, and above all promotion of national integration through migration program, i.e., exchange of students between two different linguistic JNVs that have been linked in for this program.
The online registration process for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya admissions 2024 for classes IX and XI is now open according to the bulletin issued by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti. The aspirants must register through the official portal of the NVS and complete the application process before October 31, 2023. Candidates will be selected based on the JNV Lateral Entry Selection Test (LEST) conducted by the Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti and the JNV LEST 2024 for classes IX and XI is going to be held on February 10, 2024, as per the schedule released by the NVS. Age limit: The candidates registering for JNV Lateral Entry admission 2024 should be in the age group of 13-15 years on 1st May of the year 2024 irrespective of the reservation categories including the scheduled castes and scheduled tribes.
Educational criteria: The applicants seeking admission for class IX must be bonafide residents who study in Class VIII in any of the government/government-recognized schools of the district in which the JNV has been functioning.
Composition of LEST for class IX: English/Hindi is the medium of language for the test and the duration of the test will be two-and-a-half-hour and is an objective type with a total mark of 100 including English (15 marks), Hindi (15 marks), Mathematics (35 marks), and Science (35 marks). The test will be conducted in the JNV of the respective district or any other center if needed.
Admissions for class XI are open only for vacant seats available in JNVs during the academic year 2024 and the candidates will be selected based on the test conducted by the external organization as per the notification issued by the NVS. Nativity: The applicants should be Indian nationals studying in class X in India.
Age Limit: The candidates irrespective of the categories (SC/ST) should be born between 1st June 2006-31st July 2008 (inclusive of the two days).
Educational criteria: Candidates studying in class X in any government/government-recognized school (affiliated to the CBSE or any state board of the location where the JNV is situated) in the academic year 2022-23 (April 2022 to March 2023/January to December 2022).
Composition of LEST for class XI: English/Hindi is the medium of language for the test and the duration of the test will be two-and-a-half-hour. This is an objective type with a total mark of 100 including five sections namely English (20 marks), Mathematics (20 marks), Science (20 marks), Social Sciences (20 marks), and Mental Ability (20 marks).
