National Forensic Sciences University (NFSU), which is under the aegis of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Govt. of India invites online applications up to 15th December 2023 for admission to M.Sc. Forensic Dentistry, and M.Sc. Forensic Nursing at the Gandhinagar campus in Gujarat. Admissions will be given on merit, based on fulfilling the required eligibility criteria and the scores obtained through the National Forensic Admission Test (NFAT-2023). While a new, larger campus is under construction, the current one has all the requisite infrastructure and facilities, including labs, classrooms for lectures, a library, an auditorium, hostels, etc.

The M.Sc. Forensic Dentistry, and M.Sc. Forensic Nursing courses are 2-year Postgraduate super-specialized courses offered by the School of Medico-Legal Studies, NFSU, Gandhinagar. For both courses, there are 20 seats with seats for reserved category candidates as per Govt. norms. The Tuition fee for both courses is the same, namely, Rs. 65,000/- per semester.
M.Sc. Forensic Dentistry: Also known as Forensic Odontology, this course applies the knowledge and skills of dental science to medico-legal fields, that is, identifying the victims of domestic violence, accidents, etc, and assisting in the identification of unknown remains with the help of dental evidence. Over the 2-year duration of the course, you will grasp the basic and advanced concepts and techniques of forensic odontology, the ethical and legal aspects of it, learn how to maintain dental records, etc, and conclude with a dissertation/project work.
M.Sc. Forensic Nursing: This course combines forensic science with clinical nursing. The curriculum of the first year of the course includes nursing education, advanced nursing practice, nursing research and statistics, and the first part of forensic nursing. In the second year of the course, the curriculum includes nursing management, followed by the Dissertation and Viva, and then the second part of forensic nursing in the final semester.Eligibility requirements
You should be an Indian national/Foreign national and must be medically fit. Other criteria are-Academic Qualifications
M.Sc. Forensic Dentistry: You should have a Bachelor of Dental Surgery (BDS) with a minimum of 55% or equivalent marks if you are applying in the General category/EWS category/OBC category (50% or equivalent marks for SC/ST candidates) from any institution recognized by the Dental Council of India (DCI).
M.Sc. Forensic Nursing: You should have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing from a University that is approved by the Indian Nursing Council and must be registered with a State Nursing Council of India (of any State). You should have obtained at least 55% marks (a relaxation of 5% is given for SC/ST candidates). It is also mandatory to have a minimum of one year of work experience after a Basic B.Sc. Nursing as per the norms of the Indian Nursing Council.
Eligibility for Foreign students: You are welcome to apply if you are a Foreign National on getting clearance from all the relevant agencies of the Central Govt. and the State Govt. In addition to having an acceptable Degree as confirmed by the University-level Committee and the requisite qualifying marks, you should have completed the qualifying degree in English medium or have a valid English Proficiency Certificate that should be submitted with your application. You must get medical insurance coverage as well.Application procedure

Then register and apply at the NFSU admissions portal.
The following documents should be scanned and uploaded during the online application process-
Pay the prescribed fee as mentioned below, and keep the proof of fees paid for future reference. On successful payment, the confirmation page of the online submitted application form will be generated, and you should take a printout of this right away.About NFAT-2023
The National Forensic Admission Test (NFAT-2023), which is to be conducted by the National Testing Agency (NTA), is a Computer Based Test (CBT) with 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for the duration of 1 ½ hours from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The test will be conducted at the Gandhinagar campus. A correct answer will be awarded one mark, and an incorrect answer will get a negative mark of -0.25.
NFAT-2023 Syllabus
M.Sc Forensic Dentistry: All the subjects that are taught during the BDS course + reasoning/aptitude + basics of Forensic Science and Forensic Dentistry.
M.Sc Forensic Nursing: All the subjects that are taught during Nursing + reasoning/aptitude + basics of Forensic Science and Forensic Dentistry.
PwD candidates who desire to avail the services of a scribe can put in a request for it during the online registration of NFAT – 2023. The scribe may be provided by the NTA if required and the request has been put in. They also have the option to bring their own scribe, in which case a Letter of undertaking for using their own scribe in the prescribed format (available in the annexure in the admission policy pdf doc. on the website) should be submitted.
NFAT-2023 fee: Rs. 2000/- for all categories. This fee should be paid online on the NFAT-2023 application portal through Net-Banking/Debit Card/Credit Card/UPI/Wallet.
At the Test Centre
You need to bring the following to the test centre-Important Dates
The last date for submitting the online application is 15th December 2023 up to 12 midnight.
The last date to upload the result of the last qualifying exam (12th or graduation) on the NFAT-2023 portal is 1st January 2024.
The Admit Card will be available to download on the NTA website on the dates to be announced later.
The details of the entrance exam, including the date of the exam, the result, the display of the answer key, etc will be notified separately.
The first Merit List will be released on 18th December 2023.
The first Counselling date and the second Merit List will be released from 26th December to 27th December 2023.
The second Counselling date is 27th December 2023.
